Hot Rods procrastination just makes the list longer with less time to get it done

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Apr 19, 2023.

  1. I am a procrastinator first class, We have been making plans to go to the Cherokee Reservation Spring Rod Run for months and Brenda wants to drive the wagon, as we all know before you take a trip you should do the normal maintenance, we are leaving in the morning so I have been doing what I have been putting off.

So bright and early this morning, I unlock the door, flip on the lights and start opening all three of the roll up doors. I turn around to see the right rear tire was flat, I tried to put air in the tire but the valve has started leaking.

I know I'm not the only one that has a little 4 way valve tool but I looked for that damn thing for almost an hour and finally closed the shop and the house and went to the parts house, got what I needed and got back home in record time, luck was on my side, the valve core was loose, I ended up checking them all and no problems with them.

It's also time for a oil change and that has been scratched off the list, checked all the fluids and every thing looked good.

I guess I'm just getting old, it has taken me all day to do the simple maintenance and replace a dimmer switch.

Brenda ask me if I was going to wash the Wagon? No Dear, the weatherman is calling for RAIN this weekend. HRP

I have a bad disk coupled with spinal stenosis so have been unable to work in the garage for the last 4 months. The two months prior to that I was working in a property my brother bought 6 days a week for 2 months. I would kill
to be able to do some routine maint at this point.

  11. I’m a bit of a procrastinator myself ( waited until the last minute to post this post) haha. But then, we all have things we wait until the last minute to do.

Long-term or short-term, PANIC has always been a fairly effective motivator for me.

Life is like a high school research paper. There's plenty of time all the way up until the night before it's due.

I usually fall into this category, but this year I'm actually trying to get ahead of everything. My car is actually ready to go, everything i want to do is just that, a want, not a need lol

I kinda put off responding but then realized something like “better late than never” applied.
In addition to putting stuff off, I increasingly struggle to guess how long it will take to get something’s done: something I think will go quickly turns into a can of worms while others I imagine will take forever seem to go quickly. Good thing I don’t do this stuff for a living. :(
Meanwhile, I need to locate that round toit. Maybe tomorrow?

The good news is that if you put it off long enough, it'll be too late to matter, and you won't ever have to do it. Ask my ex wife. She can give examples of me proving my theory correct, time after time.

Actually, I haven't been to the garage for over a month and feel guilty as Hell. Work demands, house repair demands, g/f requests. And I no longer can work in the garage til 3 am and then go to work in the morning.

    My time management sucks.

Round to it, isn't always the most productive phrase.

  24. I make lists of things to do and just chip away at it, get things done on days off, set up for stuff on work days to have everything ready so when I dont get out there I'm even more disappointed with myself.... haha get 'er done!!!!!

Is disorganization the twin brother of procrastination?
