Hello HAMB members, I have been lurking on these forums for just over two years now. I heard about you guys from Cheater Carl at Rods Plus in Racine, WI. His car blew me away (see Ol' Skool Rodz this month if you haven't seen Carl's car) and rekindled my thirst for traditional hot rods. I am 37, divorced but paired up again (this time with someone who understands my car sickness) with a woman who graduated from high school wih me. I have known her for 22 years now and we have been together for six of them. I have the following cars: 1930 Model A Extended Cab Pickup that I am collecting final parts for Spring 2006****embly. It is a shortened Briggs Fordor body with a Model A bed. 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air 4dr Sedan. It is a bone stock driver but a bit worn out. I plan to chop the top 5" using a 1947 Cadillac rear window, lower it 2" front, 3" rear... and finally replace the 235 smoker with a BBC 396 I have just sitting under my workbench. 1947 Chevrolet COE (5-window) with the loooooong wheelbase. I have a 1983 Chevrolet Suburban with the 6.2L diesel to use as a donor for suspension and drivetrain. I realy don't know what I want this to look like yet. 1923 Ford Model T basket case but with a good****le in my name the last ten years. This one will be a simple boattail speedster with a 6cyl Ford 230ish CID (w/ trans) that I got for $56.00 on Ebay. I have just finished remodelling (the major parts, anyway) an 1898 house in Bristol, WI and now have time to work on my car projects. I hold the following degrees: AAS in Fire Science Technology AA in History BA in History I have worked in Information Technology (computers) in Corporate America for most of the past twenty years except for an all too brief stint as a professional firefighter at Naval Air Station, Glenview, IL from 1994 -1995. I am trying to find myself a new career that has more to do with my personal interests; traditional hot rods, historic speed parts, etc. To that end I am enrolling in college again to pursue an AAS degree in Tool and Moldmaking and will probably pursue a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (which I should have done in the first place). Bored yet? I have a fair amount of reference material and a solid technical background. I tend to lurk more than post but I am generally friendly. I NEVER lend out tools, but I like to come help and I'll bring tools with me. Any questions? Just ask. Thanks, Prodigal Son
Wow!! Intro - Bio, whatever works!! Welcome to the HAMB from a southern neighbor (No. Illinois) Sounds like you have your hands full with projects. Glad to see you stepped outta the shadows. Post some pics of your 'herd' when you get a chance. Maybe we'll bump into each other this Summer.
Reeeeealyy I used to sell to Bob at Rods Plus before he went to his new gig. Welcome aboard. You'll come in handy if I set anything on fire!
