Well, I got my car out, and I'm working on it...

I worked with a tape for a bit on some new frame rails and realized I had the shape I needed with the old rails I set it up with years ago...

So, today we (I'm having my long time friends dad help on weekends, not to mention my dad to bounce things off from) got the old frame squared, and tacked the x-member into place, then got the lower portion of the frame squared up.... The goal is to build the body framing and floor...in a few weeks, TOPS...and a ROLLING CH***IS ta boot!

I was going to go to a concert tonight but thought I would stay in the shop and studied my car and what it needed later...

Five years ago I cut these frame rails up, and I still have the front frame sections, so I clamped those back in (just to get a peek!!haha)...I remembered I had a spreader bar for the front That would be required to fit the nose....so I bolted that in place.....

I plan on the front to be at least a few inches longer than stock '32 ford.....so, I have plenty of work to do.

    Take Care,
    HRD

That gas tank looks the same as the one I found and would like to run on my truck. My tank came off an industrial airplane engine heater. Where did yours come from?

What are you going to run for a mill? Buick?

It all depends on where you can find it. I got mine for about 5 bucks from an oldtimer in town who is liquidating all of his parts. Just keep your eye out at the junk yards and the side of the road.

I'm not sure where the tank came from (ie. how it got here), or how much my dad paid for it, he forgot he even had it!! It's been here a while.

The tag say's: Vogt Brothers MFG. CO., western Metal Specialty DIV. Feb. 1962

I'm running a racey little 322 nailhead and a track nose that began life on a Channeled 3 window built in Flint by Doc Gage in 1952. Here is an old mock up picture that has been on here before.

    Damn...

If it turns out anything at all like the mock-up, it's going to rule-major...

It speaks, speed and flow to me.

    Nice thinking!

What the hell you doing working on your own stuff! Is the hotrod business finally cooling off? Or is the buick the test mule for the new ch***is parts :) either way very cool your back to working on YOUR car! Can't wait to see the progress. You know you could do a plexigl*** floor in this one, since I know the frame will be *****en!

Keep the report and pictures coming Matt. This isn't going to be any cookie cutter car that's for sure, and sharing it with everyone here might just get some of us thinking something diffferent than '32 Fords. :D

That nose...is it off the use to be red chopped coupe w/the nasty Caddy motor in it? I thought that when I saw the now ruined car, it had a new nose on it. I'm glad part of it is still hot rod instead of billet super awesome street rod.

I'm glad your working on the Buick again Matt.

  19. I was gonna say that, but I was talking about the quick change and those brakes... I imagine it's gonna have a lot of finned stuff on it.

How big an 'ol boy are ya? I've often said a larger driver should start with a larger car, like a Buick.

    I'm not that big...bigger than I want to be....5'9-10" 195lbs. I've narrowed the body 8" and shortened it 5 1/2", it is a few inches narrower then a 32.
