Here is a picture of my motorplate and flywheel. The motorplate will adapt a Chev explosion proof bellhousing to the GMC engine. This will make me feel a lot safer at 6000 rpm.:D

Looks very good. Did you do the plate? Would you mind to tell me how thick is it?
    Thanks.

No I didn't make the plate. It is 1/4 inch thick aluminum. Gary Sellin made the plate for me, he has a CNC mill so it can be made for anyone else. I have a 153 tooth flywheel so if you wanted to run a 167 tooth flywheel the starter location would have to be moved. Gary said that would be no problem. Does anyone know if the GMC bellhousing and the Chev 6 bellhousing are interchangable? If they are then this setup could be used for Chevrolet sixes also. I am going to go tomorrow [monday] and put the bellhousing and transmission on the dummy engine and take some pictures and post them.:)Roy

Roy, That looks to be a well engineered part. You're well on your way. More pitures please.

I have been told the Stovebolt belhousing is the same on the block, but that the flywheel is different. I don't know if it's just different at the crank or if the starter ring is different too. Haven't tried it myself soI don't know for sure.

Where did you get the six bolt alloy flywheel?

Gary made the flywheel also. I went to Auto Zone and bought a 153 tooth starter gear and he made the flywheel. :DRoy

Looks slick, is that a used clutch floater for a friction surface?

Both look outstanding. I guess that is what I like best about HA/GR. Lots of parts made at home and nothing from Summit or Jeg's.

Yes it is a used clutch floater plate for a friction surface. Gary is doing the machine work and I do work for him, like sweep the floor and clean out the lathe. I help him take apart stuff. I buy material to make my stuff so if I can get it for nothing then that is good. Would you believe I'm making my intake from aluminum fence posts, honest.:D Roy I have tried to put more pictures but the pop-up blocker keeps me from doing it.

Hope to fire it up in 30 to 60 days. Need pistons and they are kinda hard to come by. Ron up in KC is helping on that end. He is like me working for machine work. As we get older you may see us on the side of the road with a sign.:pRoy
