Thanks again, Tim. Through it all, I forgot the most important [and toughest to bend up] piece of 18 gauge. Has about 6 different bends in both directions. As much touble as we had with that one "channel" piece, I think I'll just have Hemphill bend it for me. I'm inching closer and closer to getting this car on the street!..
Great photo of your dad, Bob...looks like a 33 chevy to me.

We still have the 12 foot brake if you want to give it a try, But hemphill has done some pretty tough stuff for the welders lately,, Remember the hot tank is running again:D Tim Jones

I took that 18 gauge I bent up on the brake at work [where I usta work] and Jimmy and I made it into cool stuff. He took one piece and used the plasma cutter [Yeah, I know..not traditional but it's "traditional STYLED!"] to cut out a pair of ovals. Then he used several different dollies and hammers to bend the edges of the holes back to make a nice panel for below the decklid inside the trunk. This piece will have the trunk latch receiver attached to it. The oval holes are so I can get my hands inside the panel to access the attaching bolts/nuts and makes a great place to store car-cleaning stuff and maybe a tool bag. We still need to install nut-serts and drill bolt holes.
The other panel we trimmed up to fit over the car's gas tank. The panel also serves as a rear firewall [as soon as we make up the filler pieces for the edges adn corners and install a rubber seal around the edges] and it's my package tray.
The 3 beads serve to strengthen/stiffen the panel so it doesn't drone or oilcan back and forth. We still need to drill our mount holes and install a strengthening rib below the tank under the floor..
    Good **** happening, man!

    Thanks, everybody..
We had a warmish Christmas day so I modified my Pontiac engine's valley pan and Offy intake to work together. Bolted it up, set the valves, installed the ignition and carb and lit it off. That old Pontiac motor sounds great! Has good oil pressure, a lumpy idle and a mean exhaust note. This was the culmination of about 3 years spare-time work. It'll go in the 34 with a 5 speed behind it.

Simon....I'll be using either my Chevy S-10 5 speed or one of 3 Camaro T-5s I have. If I blow all of 'em up, I have an old Saginaw 4 speed with a Hurst shifter.
Scotty.....quitcher cryin and get that Roadster built.

we got the trunk latch panel done, mounting holes drilled, nutserts installed and bolted the panel in place...it fits! We also drilled the holes and installed nutserts for the fuel tank and mounted it tonight. After reaming the mounting holes, it also fits.
Next, we'll install the trunk latch [original] and fab up a latch "loop" for it to capture. I have an original loop but it's really twisted and bent, torn, stretched etc...

Tonight we worked on the rear firewall/gastank cover. Did totally boring stuff like drill and tap mounting holes for the cover. Had to partially dis***emble the back window ***embly to get room to drill/tap for 10/24 stainless screws. Yeah, I know.......yawn!

It'd probably go faster if you didn't have to hand build every piece of the car haha.

Looking good man, your getting painfully close. I know you'll have a running ch***is for that thing ready to rock faster then it took you to drill and tap all those holes.

    So damn close!
