    No work tonight...
"Looking good Rocky, Still need to stop out sometime,, Tim Jones"

thanks, Tim. I still want to stop out and bench race with you and Beth. I'll get out there.
I appreciate the support all of you have given. Makes the slow build-pace almost tolerable.
I gotta do an engine swap in my body man's chevy shortbox to help pay for the body work. Prolly attack the job next week if it ever stops raining....supposed to rain all week.

  4. Cool here as well. Making the most of our last nice day for a week.

Progress looks good Rocky. I have not touched mine in about 8 months. Plan to get back on it very soon though. I like your roll bar addition. I plan to do something similar. I want mine chromed. My chrome shop can't do a piece that big though.

    .
.I want to chrome mine too. Interestingly enough, my wife wants to eat food. Guess which place the money will go.
Actually, after I get mine all finished welded and welds cleaned up and weld my seat belt mounts on, I'm going to check into getting it plated or ceramic coated. I had my front axle ceramic coated [think jet hot] in silver and I really like the way it turned out.

Rocky, I used the Jet Hot Silver finish on many items on the F4. So much easier to clean than chrome.

Jet hot would look great. Nice thing with it being removable is that you don't have to decide right now.

I'm sure it'll be rad whatever you decide

I'm also building a Chopped '34 5 window, with an SAR Salt Flat Special Decklid.
I bought a new '37 Decklid handle from Bob Drake for mine, but don't think I like the V8 being upside down!
    Any thoughts?

It'd be absolutely perfect if the logo on the 37 handle was cast upside down just for us early ford guys but it isn't so I'll put up with the upside down V/8.

Tonight I thought we were finish welding the tulip panel in because it was tac'd in place last Tuesday. We cut the tac welds and removed it to gain access to the trunk hinges and their mountings. Jimmy ****ed around with the hinge and mounts for about an hour and a half, trying to get a good gap between decklid and quarters/tulip panel. When he was happy, he began s***ching in the new panel. We still need to get the panel below the decklid fitting better. Man, this Steve's decklid is nice but trying to get fitting right has been super time consuming.

  12. Cool man! They never fit right, there are so many variables with these old bodies.

Welp, I've loved my T-5s in several hotrods I've owned BUT! I've always felt if I leaned on 'em too hard, they'd break and I drive the **** outta my cars, sooooooo. I've been on the lookout for a nice Muncie 4 speed for a long time and I finally found one at a "fair" price. I picked it up today and it even came with the shifter plate. After bolting up the plate and trying to get my hurst shifter to fit, it doesn't. That's ok because this trans didn't come with any shifter levers or rods. I'll score a complete installation kit from Summit [$150] so I get all the correct parts. BTW, I'm using a quality 3 speed Hurst syncro-loc shifter with a separate handle for reverse. I've done this several times before and it allows me to lock the ****** in reverse and a forward gear at the same time when parked, helping to foil thieves and locking the rear wheels up so the car cannot roll. Reverse handle can be hidden or activated with a cable linkage or electric motor.
This trans is the 2.20, close ratio. I never wanted the close ratio in my previous cars because 1st gear was too high with the rear gears I used for street use. I don't have that worry anymore because I'm using a Winters quick change rear in this coupe. Can't wait to slip a pair of low geared spur gears in place and go out to stand on it through the gears. Nothing sounds better than a 2.20 low gear muncie banging through the gears! The RPM drop is very little between gears with the 2.20 ******.
    I'm a happy camper.

Ok...after spending about 12 hours trying to science out my reverse lever and shifter rod.shifter handle, I finally gave in to the 4 speed shifter plan....went to a local swap meet this morning and scored a primo Hurst Compe***ion plus 4 speed shifter. The seller knocked off 50 bucks to keep his ratty arms and levers because I had a brand new full set, with bushings etc.
Cleaned it all up and bolted it up this evening...works very silky-smooth! I love Hurst stuff. Good ol American quality. I took off the curved shifter handle and bolted up the short, straight [probably corvette]
    shifter handle. Love it!

Thanks! Been busy doing repair to my buddy, Jimmy's shortbox chevy in trade for his work on my car. He did get the decklid closing properly now. Still need to grind some welds and make the alterations pretty. Not much else on the 34.

Yeah, Eric. The plan is to paint the car the same tan/green color as the dash. [It's a 48 ford steering wheel paint color] Right now, I plan to paint the 55 Chrysler wires the same color with 34 ford caps and black tires. Seats are buckskin leather. It's gonna be subtle.
Haven't decided if the frame will be body color or black.

Brought my Chrysler wire wheels home, [5.5"X15 and another pair widened to 7 inches...the red ones] dismounted the old tires and cleaned the wheels in preparation for blasting and powdercoating or painting them. If the powder coating place can match my paint, I'll get them coated. If not, I'll paint them.
I also scored my new tires.......285/70s and 145/75s.
Now, I can calculate widths and buy my new axle tubes and axle shafts for the quickchange.

Corky Coker sells 'em. They're firestones but the tread pattern is close to the BFG 285s.

Took my wheels to the powdercoater this afternoon...has the color I need and will blast and coat the wheels for $37.50 a wheel. I said "Do it!". Figured out how to get my 33 ford hubcaps to fit the 2 black painted wheels with the original Chrysler -size center hole. Simple! Just drill out the hubcap mounting clips and screw 'em to the outside of the hubcap flange! Cap fits nice and tight. The red wheels were modified to take the ford caps as-is. Plus, they're widened a couple inches to go on the back with my new 285/70R15s.
