Your car looks great! What was the length of the shifter that you bought? I looking for one for my 53 and yours looks about the same length that i want.

    Peace

I tried those gas shocks on mine and they raised the car a little. Did you hook them up yet to see if they lift yours?

Yeah it worked out pretty good. I got the idea from some dash bezel I saw on ebay only mine cost about $10 instead of $100!!

Haha! Yep I looked at your thread for inspiration about a million times before I started on mine. I am not doing bags just yet but I wanted the be able to access everything when I do switch over. Your bolt on shock crossmember idea was perfect for what I wanted so I "borrowed" it! LOL:D. Hope you don't mind...

Thanks for the kind words man!

Those shocks are actually stock replacements for a '49 chevy that I had layin around so I figured I would just use 'em. I didn't notice them raising the car at all. They seem pretty soft?

They're probably ok then, I have a practically new set of gas shocks off a Jeep Rubicon that are the perfect size, but they lift my car, but they're 4x4 stuff and stiffer. Nice work btw.

Yeah I am probably gonna have to raise the tunnel even without bags. Right now the pinion yoke only has about 2-2.5" of clearance.

this is all great looking work, you really should be proud of the car. The engine looks amazing, are you using the miller 180 for everything?

Looks like you got a good setup but if I can offer one piece of friendly advice, find a welder to do the welds like the spring perches and shock mounts. Stacking tacks is not going to cut it for those areas. I would hate to see you go down the road and have the weld bust and cause damage to that beautiful car.

I took my time and moved around alot on the spring perches as to not warp the axle tubes. I burned it in pretty hot so I think it will be fine. I don't think the spring perches or the shock mounts see a ton of stress anyway so it should be OK! Thanks for the heads up though. This is my first build and I did have a friend of mine who welds for a living weld in my notch once I had it all mocked up.
