Big fan of any cut up Vette. I am not a fan of the Corvette community, you all know the type I'm talkin about. However, anyone who builds a vette like this is OK in my book. I love this car, the stance, etc... I've built quite a few different G***ers and have actually been getting tired of seeing cars called g***ers that aren't and wouldn't ever have been. THIS car on the other hand is a G***er and will be fun to watch the whole build. Keep up with the awesome work and get this puppy honk'n P.S. when it is done, do us all a favor, grab your video camera and take it to a purest Vette show, tell everyone it was a mint Big block numbers matching car when you got it and make sure to get all the responses on tape...you could win 100,000 on Funniest videos....
Sure wish I would have kept my 63 coupe in 1974.Would have loved to have made it a g***er like yours.
Here are a few more shots of the car before the current work was done. The firewall area required the most work to add the flat firewall. Different motor mounts were fabricated and a different trans mount. It had been running an automatic so new pedals were installed, (very nice little pedal kit). The steering column was completely replaced and the dash bracing was reinforced. Thanks again for the interest and comments.
Yep, you got my vote, vette g***ers and vintage drag C1 and C2's transform well into wild rides. I like it. However, if an NCRS judged piece is your bag that has its place too, most times it is the people who own them that draw the negatives. There are already too many restored Corvettes around. Hey if you have a cob that is missing all the "correct" stuff then it makes sense to go to the outer limits with it. I like the thought of the candy green and metalflake inserts on the seats, that will be the shizz. A recent post showed some rare Sparkler Cragars, a set of those would sure compliment it, Cragar needs to bring them back. Hey nice work and looking forward to following it. CGM.
Nice car, I do not think a purist would give you **** looks like its been a race car for many years, This car was built out of total junk, started as just a bare damaged tub.
Correct, This car has been a race car for many years and the windshield posts look as if it may have been rolled at one time. I suspect it was built from a total in the late 60's. About the only things Vette on this one are the frame rails and body shell, and we have a decent original hard top. I've been paying more attention to the modified Vettes on this forum and there are quite a few. I like them all! I've had several Vettes over the years and most were modified in some way. It's hard to beat a mid-year with mild rounded flairs, 6 tail lights, leg pipes and 5 spoke Americans or Cragars. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.
I noticed the repair of the bird cage on the p***enger side you can see the weld in one pic, looks as if it had been damaged.
I kinda like them too! Might shoulda kept this one. They do make good looking race cars, looking forward to seeing yours finished. I would put some turnouts on it though. I had an Anglia with the headers pointed straight down. Not many tracks with paved pits around here and folks get kinda upset blowing **** all over their cars when you crank them up. Can't blame them. Larry T
Sounds fitting for a name Agreed. Do you happen to know where the car came from? Was it a west coast car? It looks very familiar.....I feel I have seen it in an old magazine or one of those videos that I used to buy from Super Shops n places like that, when I was a kid.
Thanks for the picture but I don't think it's the same car either. This one reportedly ran at National Trails Raceway and was out of Columbus, OH. I was given a phone number to someone who was supposed to know the car but was never able to get anyone. I kind of stopped trying for a while but am in the mood again. A unique feature on this car is that a deck lid was installed and it opens up from the back in a conventional style.
Not at all familiar with the car but the build looks good from here. That is one serious collector I don't believe I have ever seen any like it. It is a one off set or is someone fabricating and selling them on E-bay?
I don't know if you tried this site. I looked at most of the photos, but lots of unknowns cars are "found" here...Might post up some pictures and see. http://g***ermadness.com/
The car in the picture I posted is the second incarnation. The first ran the windshield posts and top sometimes. I know both these were named the "Liquid plummer" and "liquid plummer too". I don't think this car is it, but the first version, I dunno. Doubt it too. Still this is fun looking. I dig history.
The collectors are new old stock speed equiptment but I can't remember the manufacturer. They seem to work really well her.
WOW! That looks "**** your pants" cool!!!!!!! Not a whole lot of guys out there who would do that with a Vette. Hat's off,for being different...
Glad to see an update on the vette! Maybe you can get it running and bring it out to the Rod Kings BBQ in July.
