    Looks neat.

What front axle is that? I like the dip in the middle.

That's a Mopar axle. Cool car, gay builder.

Thanks for the comments (except from EL ***!). The front axle is a 37 Plymouth with 48 Ford spindles and F100 hubs and brakes.

Sorry Paul, that's the only pic of the steering arm. I'm going to use Chevy ball and socket type ends for draglink steering and the steer arm is made of the Chevy piece in the center with solid rod tig welded and drilled/tapped in the ends to make the "U" shaped section.

Hack: thanks for the comments, but I think the top will eventually be chopped. We'll see.
Paul: The kingpin holes in the axle were reamed .015" for the Ford pin. I had some old(er)timers tell me they use to use those Mopar axles in the day. The inclination is the same as Ford so the camber is right and the length of the kingpin area is close to the Ford.

nicely done. im using a 57 chevy truck column and box. I will have to locate a pitman arm to see if Im going to do the same thing as you are using the socket type/drag link rod like you are.

    Its looking good....keep posting progress.

CHOPPED 50: Hey I found out that the Ford and Chevy steering arms are interchangeable. A Chevy ball type that I have fits on my Ford F-1 box and the Chev is about 1/2" longer!

oh Damn!!! that is great news...do you know what years the 57 chevy truck pitman arm is the same? Is this arm the same on the cars too? I would like to think the pitman arm is the same all the way back to the 48' chevy trucks.

thanks for the heads up, now my search has been broadend. Its been a bear to look for a specific 57 arm

FH is right, looks pretty sweet with it unchopped. Besides, you are as tall as I am and you might want to get the seating arrangements figured out before you break out the sawzall.

Chopped 50 - sorry not much help on the years. All of the Chev parts were given to me by a buddy. I think he did say that the fenders he had were 53, so maybe the steering stuff was that year?
