Hello Guys, I have been building my car for a while now and I thought I would make a blog out of the whole progress so I could share the building with every-one who is interested and get people thinking along with the progress. I'm curious what all of you guys think and I would like to hear the comments, good or bad Thanks. http://1957handyman.wordpress.com/
Body work is looking good. I'm trying to do my inner wells too and your pics will help me out. Thanks for showing.
Hello Wade, Thanks for the response. I'm starting with the rest in the coming period and try to keep the blog updated.
Thank Guys for the replies! I will be working on the bodywork saterday so I'll get some pictures updated sunday. The blog stated that the engine would be a csb but I have changed my mind and found a deal I couldn't resist.... A 496 stroker with a 8-71 on top. I'm trying to get it all under the hood by using injection instead of carbs and maybe lowering the subframe. At the moment I'm overhauling the blower (sandblasting, bearings, PTFE coating) and will keep you updated on sunday. Thanks for all the replies.
HotRodPrimer, You are probably right Buying a bbc and trying to fit it in a place it never intended to be, has nothing to do with restauration but everything with building a car that tickles my fancy even a bit more! I'm trying to keep the outside in the style of the old and the drivequality more up to date. Thanks
Hello Guys, I have just been working on the car and the point of no return has been achieved.... The rear is off... More update on my blog: http://1957handyman.wordpress.com/ Now what to do with the sides..... 1 piece window, sheetmetal, tinted window, original pillar, Any thoughts anyone? Thanks for your interest!
Hello Guys, I have been making a some progress again this week. Things are coming along.... Glad for now.... Please check my work at my blog and leave me a comment good or bad Oh, I have another question for you guys: What are your experiences with solid mounted big block engine on a frame? Thanks for all the replies
Nobody has any experience with solid mounts and the shakes it makes? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I went with Hurst mounts, it bolts on to the front bosses of the motor, and mounts to the frame using bolt on brackets and hard rubber donuts. You have to run a electric fuel pump and I think you have to switch to the regular heater vent. I also had to hammer back the firewall a little where the valve covers seated. I also went with the stock 57 bellhousing, and stock rear mounting brackets, that come off of the bellhousing. Of course we are talking 40 years ago.
Hello Guys, It's been a long time since I posted something. This posting and working on the car tends the go more in favour of working on the car I sometimes feel like a spammer but if I can make one person happy who helped me with their posts in the past I hope I can..... Still a reader though. Here's another update on my blog www.1957handyman.wordpress.com
Thanks Joseph for your reply. It helped me make a decision. I went with the mounting plates front and rear. I'm going to build them with the option of rubbermounts but I will start with solids blocks.....
Hi guys and girls, Since I'm on a holiday (Norway) and away from the trifive I thought why not update my blog? So please check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks, merry christmas and a happy new year all over the world!
Nice work, with or without windows is a 'what you like best'kinda thing ,i like sedan deliverys and was fortunate enough to find one here as a rolling sheel,I rolled the side panels from 2mm sheet metal and fastened them from the inside with screws and drip check[sealer]in between,it's a 56 with 55front and 57 side trim, just to confuse everyone 'dare to be different'it's what you like,no one else. Good Luck, Gaz!
Thanks Gaz for the comment. I totally agree, you have to make the car you want to make. Good luck with your project!
