    HELP! Any ideas!

I had to replace the hoses and the new hose connectors are a bit taller,
So i had to replace some of the AN-4 straight fittings with 45's for clearance.
    upload_2026-1-24_15-19-22.png
They do Not seal! on the NPT side...maybe the threads are slightly smaller.
I tried Permatex Avionics gasket sealant. (for gaskets, threads, 1000psi, Gasoline / Alky safe.)
    Didn't work
    It's Aluminum to aluminum.
    1. I may try to TIG'em on?...(after i clean that goop off)
    2. Maybe ask a Machinist or "cut n send" to make some new ones. # $$$$ !?

I've driven it a bunch B4 and On / Off a couple of times)
never had Any problem with leaks!

    Any ideas help!

Supposed to be the 30's Indy car V8 logo ... more towards the front.
Maybe darken the circle to look like a sound hole...?

    Thanks Anders!
I've ONLY found one car with a real sunburst - faded to dark at the edges.
This rover is faded at the bottom... WJT0skfk_o.jpg
    I like it!

This is not a Sunburst in my mind...because it's a fade in a box.
    Sharp edges.

Now i just gotta do "some body work" and start practicing the Winfield Fade technique...

Found out it's the AN side that is leaking! Not the NPT side.

Fortunately br*** is harder than aluminum so my new hoses should still be good?

    Check out my test rig.
Never would have found it in the car.

Loving the sunburst idea and you presented it so convincingly. Like the Triumph fade.
Gene would like this idea too.
You Will need that gold exhaust though.

Have burst painted a few my self...

    Wow...that is CL!

Did You use "paint" or like a "tint" semi clear stuff for your fades?

I Use Mixol and Transtint set in clear gloss lacquer w/airbrush to 'fade' then clear over top with gun.
This set up is very prone to quick UV fade and lacquer is famous for premature aging which might be desirable occasionally on guitars but less so for cars.

For fast 'real UV fade' I spray with tint in just Thinner, one day in Hawaiian sun, then clear.

Again...Wow that's a Really Nice Fade right there!
I had no idea this was your "specialty"...
Are You a Luthier / Do you build guitars?

    Test Paint:
I was going to do a test run with rattle cans...solid paint.
But as you can see on my gas tank...it's not very nice / fadey...
    Probably make it look like

    Tint:
Do you know a good place to buy tints? On Oahu??

No not a real luther, I'm just some old guy glueing boards together in the garage.
yes i built those guitars and am slowly getting better at it.

Nice fade hard to do with spray cans or opaque paint, but like Gene Winfield said
"I just keep painting till I like it.'

Those tints came from woodcrafters here on island Hard to get shipped being hazardous and all.
Favorite auto paint store- Highline and they carry Lil Daddy Roth stuff so once you see the pearls and flakes... I got the flake gun, and as soon as your ready for giant 70s b*** boat flake, candy pearl, rainbow, hotrod goodness.
    Wthj38YyROOC179Qr2S+DA.jpg

I used to paint on cars and to execute your idea I would use a touch up gun and a quart of each color and since fade is hard to spray for shine/flow or cut/buff it would need clear coat.

Of course F all that and just spray bomb it, and next year do it again different, so the old gal gets a new dress for spring.

present koa top project thats keeping me from me hotrod.
