Tried these chocks in the front...Can't do it.....Have to find some houdaille style lever shocks...
Anyone knows a good place to get some...have any ..?
    sh-1.jpg sh-2.jpg
    sh-3.jpg sh-4.jpg

    Rear Shocks will look good...?
Was "designing" some upper shock mounts...just remembered I cut those bones off...That might work?
    sh-5.jpg sh-6.jpg sh-7.jpg
Looks Pretty darn good, And it's made of real O'l ford steel.

oh and i moved the rear cross member back 1/4 inch...to remove bind in the spring hangers...

Body storage on the frame...need to get it out of the Garage for a while...
    2-1.jpg 2-2.jpg

The Body sits ~ 2 " to high, riding on bolts and "wheel bracket"
Hood (from my sedan) obviously doesn't fit ... but it gives an idea of what it'll look like.

Me and Wifey used the 30 Tow Truck & and a 2X4" to push it in the side Garage.

    20140825_163747.jpg
Grabbed a cold one and sat down and looked at it.....It sits perfect...?
I'll try to get another 1/2 to 1 inch in the front......................................................................................of course Down!

As an alternative to Houdaille shocks you could run the easier to find Armstrong shocks. See today's post on my T build thread if you're interested.

Time to start working on the body...
(Still have some chassis work to finish but I want to see what the final "product"
looks like before finalizing the ride height in the front.)
i.e. construct a floor system and connect whats left of the bottom of the body to it.
positive side: The Model A body doesn't fit a 32 chassis anyways, so it would have had to be redone.
The Cherry picker works great as a body holder...
body1.jpg body2.jpg body3.jpg I'll cut the tank out to make room for the dash etc.
body4.jpg 'sgonna need a lot of massaging to fit nice.

Finally got some more stuff done...
(And my phone / camera decided to lock itself "too many log in attempts, enter gmail account password...
    Didn't even know I had one...anywho.)

Got the fire wall cut for the trans.
    g2.jpg
Ordered a windshield form Snyder's..that'll be cut down to size...
Had it on the car and it's way to tall!
Found some 32 foldable stanchions at the swap meet...to get the rake...
    g1.jpg
Some how the lower cowl/door post patch piece was stamped wrong...
The bottom angle was off by almost 1/2 inch in the back...
Had to bite the bullet and by another one...32 bucks.
Almost cut that one too short...but it worked out. g3.jpg
    Welded up s'more rust.
    g4.jpg g5.jpg g6.jpg g7.jpg

Tomorrow, mount the posts to the doors and see how it all lines up with the cowl.
If OK, try to make some flooring and tie it to the body = jagged edges.
    Good Night!

Once I got everything lined up with the frame...it's obvious that my cowl was spreading too much...
    sub3.jpg
Need to bring it together almost 3/4 inches...
Trying to make the attachments slide so I can keep it hanging....we'll see?
    sub1.jpg
The frame curve is following the body nicely!

Cut down the Cowl sides to fit the frame...
Lotso trial and error to make it fit nice...everything rounded and it's hard to find a reference point...
the missing 1/8" on one side is finally fixed. cowl1.jpg cowl2.jpg cowl3.jpg
Both sides done...Phone died and I ran out of Argon...tacked with MIG and final TIG weld tomorrow.

    Howzit Daddio...
    Cool a New House!
New Houses usually come with a Honey Do List that keeps getting longer & longer the more you fix...
Last weeks immediate house repairs : fridge reheat coil, Lawnmower (crap in the $#!terator...bad fuel), small roof leak & a tree fell down & wifey's car leaked oil (Boring car so it's under house repairs)...next week , who knows///.
Hot Rods are just more FUN!
    Aloha Tommy

Good/bad news for me is that I had this place renovated BEFORE we moved in! It's only 7 years old but we moved a few walls, painted, tiled and carpeted everything so I wouldn't have to do any of it. Still living out of boxes but I'll start my 40' x 50' shop this winter!

Oh yeah, I spent like 200 hours a day keeping all the subs on target. No wonder I'm wiped out!

Now, back to your hot rod! Sorry for the distraction.

Back in the swing o' things again...

Got the cowl section aligned / bolted down.
    pp1.jpg
    pp2.jpg pp3.jpg

And the rear wheel wells cut out...It's gonna need some surgery outside the patch panels...
(don't know why i got those patch panels...? they're just flat with a fold and a hump)
    pp4.jpg

The dash follows the tank contour really nicely!

Got both wheel wells hammered in to shape (top curve)
Replaced some rotted metal where the two panels overlap.
Drivers side fitted and tacked in place. ww.jpg

    Conduits finally gone...
The challenge with this project is that the whole bottom's missing.
The reference points are gone, the body assembled on top of the Sub frame.
    Middle section bolted down..

Unbolted the seat pan...(95% of the bolts are still re-usable after 85 years...Quality!)
And the wood pieces in the front pan are 95% good too!
    fs1.jpg
Body's about 1/2" to wide at the bottom to line up nicely with the frame..I'll narrow the seat pan and maybe the rear if needed.

Nice "channel cut job" on the bottom by the butchers!
    fs2.jpg
probably move it back a few inches too...

The tub is looking good, Tommy. Nice progress. I'm not sure I follow the body being too wide? It's normal for the body to hang over the frame a bit ( except at the cowl). Seems like narrowing it would open up a can of worms to me. Especially if you intend to use the top irons.

    Hi Metalman

This 29 "Can" was full of worms when I bought it.
    And so was the frame...

    The cowl section fits perfect.

When I pulled the seat pan out, the sides came in enough (1/2") to look good on the fram...
The rear is nice n tight around the kick up.
Since I plan to move the pan back, I probably don't have to narrow it.

    We'll see where it goes?
    Tommy

You're on the right track moving the seat back. I left mine in the stock location because I knew I would be using the back seat a lot ( it's a family car), but I moved the firewall forward two inches instead. I'm 6'1" and it's just a little tight, not bad. I drove from Columbus to Louisville and back and I was fine.
    You're doing a good job...keep it up.
