What happens when you ***ume stuff...I ***umed both motor mounts was the same width...
Even though I knew (most Mopar guys know) that they're different!
Things go slower when you try to hurry up! 20150518_211806 (Medium).jpg 20150518_193709 (Medium).jpg
All's finally bolted in again...1.5 inches higher!

After paint (one day), I plan to use the teak "Boat deck looking" marine plywood with a tight fit.
    Trans Tunnel...Not sure yet...

Here's a list of Steering box input shafts and u-joints from Speedway.
The Chrysler box is a 3/4" 36 - Like GM.

I found a Tri Five Chevy shaft on E-Bay for $35

    RECALL!!!
    OK...THAT DIDN'T WORK....Well it did anyways......

The Tri Five Chevy Shaft wheel end didn't fit my Buick steering wheel...
BUT the other end was a 3/4" 36 Spline (as advertised)...
Just gotta drill a hole and thread it for a bolt to hold the steering wheel on.

    I guess I'll use the other end for my sedan later...With a Chevy steering wheel...? 20150520_164735 (Medium).jpg 20150520_164656 (Medium).jpg 20150520_164725 (Medium).jpg

    PLAN C
I ordered a 3/4" hollow shaft and a quick connect steering wheel coupler from Speedway.
(Thanks for the Super fast USPS shipping!)

    Didn't like that:
The steering wheel has a tiny wobble when you tilt it..
It's tight when trying to turn it...(Must not be engaged all the way)
    20150521_211551 (Medium).jpg
Model A outer steering column - shortened (It'll be much shorter than that!)...
Plan to use the levers for Blinker and...something.

Put the pedals in to see how I fit in there...
    20150524_143123 (Medium).jpg
With the BIG Buick Steering wheel I had to scoot the seat pan back a few more inches to get my legs in there...It's moved back ~ 5 inches now.
    20150524_192010 (Medium).jpg
Still enough room to get in through the back doors.
Leg Room...We'll see with the tank back there...

Cut the old hub "compression welds" out of the Buick steering wheel.
(Never bag on the "Hobby" Dremmel tool!)
Will TIG weld the gaps tonight.
    20150527_163138 (Medium).jpg
Made a template in the lathe to center / locate the bolt holes.
Drill the three holes, make sure the bolts fit the new hub, center it on the wheel and transfer punch / drill it. 20150528_061447 (Medium).jpg 20150528_061436 (Medium).jpg
If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing...

I'm still blown away that you can loosen bolts from 1929 (That's been out in the rain for ** long years)
And remove three out of four with my hands & a hit of WD-40.

TIG welded the U-joint to the shaft.
Greased the bottom bushing & put it on the shaft.
Greased & put the top bushing on the shaft and TIG welded the steering wheel adapter on.
MIG welded the steering column together...

I was reading how Keith TArdell did the windshield slant on the Cannarozzi Roadster....
So I had my 29 in front of me and I tried to photograph it...for me it turned out to be a happy medium..
The upper cowl is slanted outwards so, The middle of the frame rests on in the back,
and the ends stick out in front.
