Not my first chunk of garage art... I can make junk ! Timmed an extra '30 - '31 cowl's upper dash support rail, so it [don't need it all] would fit flush against a '30 cowl's upper rail, lined it up and tacked it to the back of the new dash... Makes its installation as easy as drlling holes and running bolts through them... Then weld the dash to the trimmed rail...
After I added the filler to the passenger side of the dash yesterday, I wasn't really pleased with my first attempt at "metal work" on the drivers side. So I cut it out and rebuilt it. I wanted it to look similar to the passenger side...much happier with the way it looks now. Don't think I'll be cutting it apart again. It flows much better with the curve of the dash. Spent a little bit of time Saturday evening working on the dash. Welding everything up.... epoxy primer/sealer and metal to metal is on its way in the next few days. Like to get it sealed up soon. Question for y'all What goes here ? Or should I ask this ... Is this the correct windshield for my sedan ? None of the mounting holes fit the windshield header. Thought if I centered it on the middle hole in the header I'd get some to fit. Nope. Not one, not even the center hole. It's off an 1". The frame measures 44" on the top and 42-3/4" on the bottom. Any help is appreciated Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
......To quote a '60's sci-fi robot... WARNING, WARNING, WARNING... watch out for CLOSED CAR "TEE" w/s frames as they are the same configuration as the A's but about 1" too narrow.. dead give-away is the w/s wiper's 1" tube welded to the frame..... View attachment 3489484
So I guess that makes me Will Robinson, huh ? Your link didn't open. Said H.A.M.B. error and gave me a good laugh with the advertisement that popped up . Wait, is that Will Robinson ? I'm confused. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Enough of this- back to work! I'm only familiar with '30/31 windshield frames- they have mitered corners, and 2 small screws on both sides at the top to take the header piece and hinge off to replace or install glass. I wouldn't think they'd change as much from the one you pictured but who knows? ( ya, ya the Phantom, I get ya) '28/29 - #1 My friend Ricks '30/31 #2 ( what a gorgeous car!!) I don't have a good shot of the '28/29 windshield, but maybe this will help. If not ,I'll go sulk a while..................
You have eliminated the 30-31 frame. It's not that. No mitered corners. More just 90's the vertical pieces slide into with the brass bolts holding it together. I'll post up some better pictures. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Memory says all closed car As are the same, except for the slant windshield cars that were chopped about 1" = '31 vicky, fordoor, cabbie and A400... I have a w/s frame like buck n' half's pic... it fits flush, and did not overlap the w/s posts like the As... had very similar w/s swing arms [thicker metal]... saw an ebay frame just like mine... Durant ??? who knows ?
I think the extra model A w/s frame I have is useable, I was going to use it, but the coupe body from texas had a better one in it... The extra one is now a mock up in the car so i can trim the '36 / '40 dash's upper edge to let the A w/s frame's lip slide under it...... posted the pic in case you can zoom in on it... . Ford used "leftover / the same design" model A closed car windshield frames on 1932 to 1934 ford trucks... but the truck frames did not have the lip that slid under the A dashrail... location of the holes in the truck w/s hinge may differ ?

I believe I may be in the market for one so if and when you're willing to part with it, let me know. Beautiful Coupe by the way. Love the color ! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Hey Dean thanks for posting. Thank you again for the dash. I feel very fortunate I was able to buy it from you. Thank you for the kind words. I think I did pretty good for my first try at it. [emoji1360] Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
a nice looking woman walked up to me at wallies while i was looking for cheap paint cans... she tells me of some cans in the clearance aisle... who wouldn't go check them out ? well there they were as she said... got to be the best advice i have gotten from such a cute girl... scoffed up the [6] cans of $2.00 GLOSS KAHKI... looks tan to me... went to a different wallies and checked their clearance asile... nope... last resort i asked the paintman... he says oh, we have our own clearance shelf... [7] more $2.00 cans... GLOSS KAHKI she is !
Mike on the picture of Ricks 28/29 there's weatherstripping. I can see that, so that would help me close up some of the gap. There's nothing on the actual w/s frame ? Like a garnish molding or anything ?the measurement on my frame doesn't match anything online I've found. On that "gorgeous car" you have there is (chrome trim) over the w/s frame or is that the actual frame ? Sent from my iPad using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
No one raised their hand in class and said I was missing the Dash Rail ... [emoji53] That looks a little better. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
