I kinda scraped the gasket out of there...I can see the valves!-------------------------------Broke a Stud--------------------V (luckily there's Enough meat to weld a nut on) Tomorrow I'll TIG the nuts to the studs and put out the Impact on it... If that doesn't work................................C4 or ..........Green Boat Anchor.................
Make Shift Surgery Room....(Crazy Storm winds outside...) OK, Ready to go... Studs snap...tried impact gun, breakers bar + Sledge Hammer, Breaker bar + extension.. Top - the one stud that came out + another snapped stud below! Houston, we have a Boat Anchor!
I've taken allot of stuff apart...My Poly was full of dirt, animals living in it, pistons frozen, And it wasn't this stubborn! If I can't find another 4 banger on the island (got an add on craigslist)... I might have to go Hemi or Poly on it...Just enjoyed cruising the way it was... And I'm not ready for another project right now... - Plan was to Street Rod Register it put Juice brakes, seat belts wind shield wiper on etc - Take those fenders off and cruise s'more...
wow, that's crazy.... what a huge disappointment and setback. makes me wonder what was done when it was last installed.
How bizzar. Maybe weld some tabs to the head and chain them to a hoist? Seems odd that your previous poor running motor came apart fine and this apartly good running one is stuck like glue. That's frustrating and I'm not even involved
I drill a 1/2" hole through a scrap of alum., hold it over the stud with vise grips so you don't weld the stud to the block or head, use the grips as heat screams through alum. Hold it over the broken stud, carefully weld onto the broken end of the stud only, build up a 3/8" diameter by 3/8" tall ball on the end of the stud... the ball o weld will give you something to grab with vise grips... the heat from the weld should help break the stud free.. Made a new best friend while chopping an A tudor at our club's rod run, he broke off the altinator bolt in his alum. big block head... he spread a blanket over the '33's fenders, I did the above, the bolt came out with plyers... ... 50/50 mix of ascetone and tranny fluid freed up my banger, added it in December tried it in March, no resistance at all, like it was never stuck...
As you can see in this picture...The front wheel is spinning! The whole car is hanging in my special spark plug bolts...
Well shit man. If shipping wouldn't be insane I'd find ya a banger, probably less expensive for me to fly down there and try to help you get that head off lol
Feed rope threw the spark plug hole of a cylinder with the piston all the way down and then crank it over. Piston should shove the big wad of rope up into the head and pop it off? I'd have dropped it in the water by now but hey ropes cheap
