I have thought about the hand brake...it would be much easier to place and mount.........I wonder after I pull the chute......do I really only want one hand on the steering wheel in this thing at that point.........Littleman

My experience has been...after you pull the chute, you never want to touch the brake until you have to make the turn off. If you touch the brake, the car starts bouncing and will not settle down until you let go. Keep up the good work!

I got the master cylinder and pedal mounted last night and added a support bridge brace on the lower pedal bend for support this morning......My foot and heal position for both the gas and brake feel good when in the seat....bit by bit, starting to look like something slowly...next focus will be mounting the main body.....Littleman

dreracecar, thank for the pic, I used a CNC mastercylinder..

    Coupemerc, thanks for the info...

What ever works for you is fine, Have you suited up yet and sat in it yet, suiting up changes everthing. I make my customers suit up an sit in the car while I fit them and they are also in there for at least 45 minutes to see if they cramp up or go legs go to sleep do to binding. Also check with NHRA on your seat to see if you have to recover it with Flameproof material. It states for our class that if you run a seat cover it must be made with flame proof material.

The new shoes arrived for the back.....need to narrow the rear section of the body more, the far side rim is not even engaged onto its axle studs.....The new tires are 13'' wide on the new wheels..........Thanks for mounting them Don !

blasted, after placing the bends into the pedal which made it shorter...then doing the math based on the pivot point ect.....comes out to 6:1 ratio.....

dreracecar.....I will ask about the material...not sure since it is rear engine...I know I am not required to have a fire system...but will anyways.....

Had to narrow the rear of the body to fit the new wheels and wider slick foot print....The last of the quarter panel lip just outside the sides of the deck lid are gone , that made the rear lower panel drop off. I will need to mount that by itself. I had to remove 1-1/4'' off each side of the deck lid as well. Both wheels are now bolted on....The gas tank will go where the upper panel above the deck lid is saddle mounted off the upper frame rails, it will protrude out of the body like I did DeathsDoorSteps tank on the Coupe......so I need to figure out how to mount the body before I cut that out and have a flappin mess..........I think I have the brake caliper and new rim relationship sorted out as well.....The tank has two lower -12an fittings and four -6an lines up top....one of those will be a vent.......So I need to square up the body and figure out the mounts...Looking like a need to machine and fab up a 3/8'' tube bender to bend the 3/8'' moly tubing I plan on using to mount the body as well.

I was once told from a experienced chassis builder that an over built chassis thats stiff will be nothin but a tire shaker.

We proved that comment with a motor mount system in a particular alloy that was extremely soft and the number on the score board backed it up and we tried different tracks and all temps to re-inforce his statement as correct.

I am not an experienced chassis builder nor do I pay someone to build my stuff........Sure I am expecting some problems.......only way to find out is to try it........good think I own a sazall and a welder and am not afraid to use it and change things up only if needed. Problems can be caused from mulitple sources...the trick is to figure it out.....The car needs to be run.....until then anything and everything is nothing more than speculation....until the real adventure begins......Their is an area on my chassis I left some tubes out on purpose w/ the idea of the chassis working or not..thinking I could add if needed ect...but you never know...this thing just might run a decent # and its going to take some work along the way...Their are no plans to buy to build it..I am just winging it.... its my first round tube chassis I have attempted to built. I should have built the short FED chassis I am going to build next, it sure would have been allot easier for my first round tube chassis than this contraption..........Thanks for the info, each chassis does act different, bottom line is the adjustments taken..........Littleman Dave

The car is an inatimate object -- sooner or later it must respond to reason!!

Sounds like you have the same way of thinking I have, When I started building my dragster I knew nothing about 50's style cars and Flatheads, all my cars have been 70's front engine cars with small block chevys and Mopars, So when I get it done and go out and look like a F**King idiot , I'm not gonna go sit in the corner and cry , I go back out to the shop and try to figure out what I did wrong, Kinda like what Bruce said,, you have the Brain not the car sooner of later it will run the way you want it to, Tim Jones

Started on the main body mount.......I placed an upper mounting point one on each side of the upper cowl off the upper shoulder hoop......I have the lower main body mount tacted into place.....I had a hard time picking an idea....too many....so I went w/ the simple idea and started to bend tubing....It is all 3/8'' chromoly tubing.....I need to finish weld what I can...Then move onto the gas tank mount and upper rear body mount points at the same time.....Littleman

I just started to think about the door tonight.....The original molded door that was cut out long before I got the body was just dropped off this evening, I have the other door that they were going to use as well.......I may make it work...It would give me quick access if needed....Dave

Here is a quick mockup of the front panels I had picked up off of craigslist to play with...I started to cut them to fit before starting on the main body mounts...Littleman Dave

I originally had a mental picture of them sticking straight out the sides of the body......Like cat wiskers but parallel to the ground........Littleman Dave
