Shane85, I use an older Miller DialArc HF machine w/ cooler....one day I need to take a real welding class..I remember the day I brought it home.......had no clue how to make it work.

Metal Meltdown, Yes, I plan on adding gussets ect.....I am far from done..I just got it far enough along to set it on the ground for a look see......It is going back on the table...I need to finish mounting everything then add my additional protection.

Thanks everyone, today was a good day for me....I have been waiting to set it on the ground .........Trust me..I stand back and stare at it and just scratch my head...probably the same thing everyone else does after they look at the pics I posted....Ha ha...but I keep going forward......Littleman Dave

Thanks everyone..........I am super stoked to see it sitting on the ground and an official roller. I have it back up on the table....time to figure out front shocks, steering and front panhard bar locations and mounts along w/ a few more chassis structural tubes..........Littleman

That car is awesome. I love mid engine roadsters, either for drag or land spped.

    Keep up the good work.

I finally got the rack mounted..I made the mount the way I did.... to help tie the front end together even more and make it stronger..I will only be using the one side of the rack w/ a tie rod like in a cross steering capacity.....The other side I will trim down and fab up an aluminum cover of some sort..The main steering shaft will be fairly short and will have a U-joint along w/ the anti push back sleeve I machined on the lathe in place near the main steering wheel mount...Littleman

  25. That rack setup is sweet! I'm a little concerned about bump steer if that thing gets a lot of nose lift on launch. That is a pretty short tie rod...

I have not mounted the upper shocks yet........I plan on limiting the axles unloaded drop travel, while in concert w/ a well placed and adjust wheelie bar.....I understand the trouble caused by a chassis mounted rack and the changes it can cause during movement. If it gives me trouble, ''have welder can fix'', as I always say. I did have a good conversation w/ chassis builder Rooman before going this route.....I guess I could have mounted the rack off center to make the tie rod longer......as it sits now, their is no bind when turning and playing w/ a jack under the axle w/ the chassis clamped down w/ all the connections oriented correct....But I need to mount the upper shock position to control the total axle drop............Thanks for the info...Dave

I will add...this is one of the reasons I like to post a thread build, one it forces me to document the build and since I never built anything like this it allows some w/ more knowledge to add some useful info ! Because I will be the first to admit...I have no idea what the hell I am doing...

Pretty professional looking for someone who doesn't have an idea what they are doing. History has shown many times that one man's stumble into the unknown is equal to other men's genius. It all depends on talent desire and the willingness to take that first step. It also helps when you have all the tools (sic)...and did I mention the talent ?

Unbelieveable build Dave. I'm thinking your workload might increase substantially after this build (and DDS... if you ever finish it) Having said you did the work would be bigger in my books then saying it was done by Trepanier, Buttera or anyone else. (Ok maybe not Buttera...)

    Keep on keeping on...

I have the steering mocked up and made some additions to the front of the chassis....built in another foot box area just a few inches back from the original one which is the very front of the chassis. I still have a few more bars to add which will include mounting the steering shaft support............Littleman
