Our project '38 is a long-term project that is worked on as the wind allows. In between building a monster blown flathead, a roller '32 ch***is, as well as some other significantly more important projects, Keith will sit down and do something here or...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
That is certainly a very good looking set-up, you're a lucky man Ryan!! Looking forward for more progress. Regards
All great stuff!!! Love all the rare Weiand stuff adorning the engine, that's all very precious metal especially the fuel block and rare block letter vc's. I love the 3 spoke steering wheel. Is that based on the Bell? Where you get that? Great update!

No sir. We are using original v-belt stuff. Fuel block courtesy of Jeff Norwell. Apparently, he is good for something. It's just a 3-spoke Bell...
Always liked that car ever since I stumbled onto the old pictures on the net. Will you be keeping the rolling stock or will you go with an early 60's vibe with some early style mags?
We are going for a mid-1950's race car vibe... Sort of a all-business "Doane Spencer was here" look... Which, of course, calls for some magnesium Halibrand sport car wheels... I'd like to do real knock-offs, but I haven't sourced anything yet.
Looking good! Is that a polished stainless firewall? I dig the reflection... Are you going to cut a hole in the hood for the carb scoops to poke through? Or run it without a hood? I see the steelies... but man, that thing needs some magnesium wheels! (and blackwalls... hahaha) Sam

I'm digging that blown Y Block. Where did you find the intake, and are they readily available or was it a one off deal?
The Doane Spencer influence is one of the ingredients in this build that I'm eagerly waiting to see more of. Doane was a man of refined taste and out of all of the pictures in JJ #2, I find myself staring at the Thunderbird more than anything else. I'm guessing you'll be doing some slight tweaking to the body (shaving select trim, toning the body down some, etc) like Doane would have? Oh, and what transmission will you be running behind the Y-block?
Over 20 years ago I found my father a gorgeous 1938 body. Like almost everything he had he sold it. What a shame I think 1938 is on of the nicest years for cars ! Nice hot rod. The best builds are done with patience not in a hurry !
thanks for the update -I was just think we haven't had an update in a while cant wait to see the finished product!!
I can't help but smile every time I see an update- Its so rad that you are doing this... back in the day- word on the street you were just a punk with a street rod who ran a traditional hot rod forum... who were you trying to fool? haha- but now you're getting dangerous- I LOVE THIS PROJECT!!! Its like that picture with Johnny Cash where he's flipping the bird... The MAN in black...
No,now he's just raising the bar for posers Seriously though,it takes big cajones to take a sweet, finished rod and turn it into an even sweeter custom.I'm impressed.
