I currently have as a project a 1928 Ford Sedan. No matter which way I look at the final product. I cannot get to excited about it (leaping before lookin' again). I am not saying that a sedan cannot look cool, but with local laws the outcome is limited (has to run some sort of fender, chop would need to be 2.5" or less, paranoid about the fuel tank in the cabin, etc). The chop is the big one. I always think the A sedan looks to 'cute' without a heavy wack to give it that tough look. Ha! Anyway the question is ... -sell it and look for a replacement, or chop it up. I would more than likely really have at it and try to create a rpu clone (gave up on the tub idea) Pros- cheaper to chop it up .. ***uming I do all (most) of the work and I can buy into the final design ... especially after seeing rogues work!! The So-What pu et al Cons - shame to chop it up (see pic) and live with a cdan that is close to what I would like to build. This will easily be a 5+ year project ... Comments appreciated. Anyone out there want to swap a sedan for a ?? Later, papa al the A now Illegal tough A concept
I'd love to take the axe to that one. I wish I had something that you couldn't live without (and you weren't so far off). Hell whack it and make a pickup out of it. Or make a tub out of it. No roof is almost as cool as short roof.
I know what you mean about sedans. I believe that 80% of them are done wrong and do not have the right proportions.. If you are forced to run fenders then it changes the look and if you are set for a hiboy then I am not sure what changing the body style will do for you.. I would not chop it up to make a Truck out of , there is tons of ****ty metal to use for that.. If you have to run fenders consider the factory ones and then mount the gas tank under the aprons. I know it is not as Tough looking but you can build a cool looking one anyways. take a look at pics from the 50 and 60's and you will not see alot without fenders os if you ae wanting a vintage look fenders fit in. The other option is to make a set of motorcylce fenders that are easy to remove so you can p*** inspection and then yank them. As for chops, I did not know there was a law that said how much you could chop one but I am sure there are lot of Candians that have gone over the limit (how does the cop know what is stop.. Anyways that is my 2 cents.. Keep it or sell it but dont butcher it into a truck unless yu are building one of those extra cab set up that JEEM did up... (and InjectedA and Posies is building).
Ya .. it would be a shame to hack a perfectly good sedan up when I could essentially start with a less desirable piece(s) The rule here has to do with the visible portion of the window .. it must not be less than ~8" hence not a whole lot left to chop out. It all stems from the process that all vehicles must go through an inspection to be licensed. A good idea to ensure safety, but a bad one when the same rules (and devices) are expected on a '28 or an '04. There is some provision for rods in the modified vehicle code so at least I do not have to install and airbag or GPS I do like the 5w pup that JEEM et al are building and have the pics posted at home on the wall of inspiration. But wack the top off of that pickup and whoooha, thatsa nice Thanks for the comments .... later, papa al
I am with Boones on this one, attached is a model I did a long time ago, I think it would work with your tudor and Hemi. Just nice and low, to make up for the lack of removal from top, dare to be different.
You gotta run fenders there? Build it and get someone you're related to to register it in Saskatchewan
If you can't get excited about it now, you will lose interest quickly after starting the project. I would hate for you to sell it for 50cents on the dollar after it sits in your garage for two years with only part of the work done because you lost interest. Sell it and get something that you absolutley cannot live without and enjoy the building process. TZ
Just like the Aussies ... there is before/after axle center measurement (either inches or degrees). We now have photo-radar, photo-intersection encroachment, photo-license and finally photo-fender protractor Sweet model hodaky ... and a valid point about the design working. I should shut up and start building Given the length of the probable project I really need to feel GOOD about the end point The idea was to build the sedan as if were built in my birth year, '61. I have collected many mags/books from '60-'61 but very few have any fendered mini-chop sedans ... coupes and roadsters were still on the used car lots thanks again papa al

I don't know if this will help ya out or not Laverda, but there's a new ad in the western producer this week: FOR SALE: 1956 Fords- Crown Victoria 2 door hardtop; Ranch wagon, 2 door; Victoria 2 door hardtop. 1963 Mercury Monteray 4 door sedan; 1949 Ford 1/2 ton; 2 Model A 1/4 ton truck boxes w/tailgates. 306-946-2242, Watrous, Sask Just thought you might be interested in the model A boxes. Thanks Evan on the parts tip. And keep those A Q's comin' Boones ... I have enjoyed all the posts with regard to your '29 sedan. Lotsa questions I would ask ... eventually It would be nice to chop it 5+ and run without fenders with a few hemi bound stacks ... but no reg, no plates mean a garage queen have a good weekend out there ... we just got about 2ft of snow in the last 4 days. The most I have seen in 10 years ... ahhh my aching back
Better sell it now and get what you really want. And please don't just indiscrimately cut up that beautiful A for something you're not even sure you want. You mention a 5 year project. On a long term project like that I'll guantee that if you don't just LOVE it at the start you'll hate it a couple years down the road.By that time all you'll have is a pile of cut up parts that you'll be lucky to sell for pennys on the dollar for what you've got invested, not tomention your time, storage, frustration, ect.I've seen this happen WAY to many times. My $.o2 worth. Ted
