Ideas? Hell drive it! It's done! Give it a wash and a wax and ride into the sun set. There's nothing you can do to that one. You bought it finished. :)

Poncho owner checking in here also!

    Yep, it's done :D LOL.

A nice drop will help a lot, then you're going to be scrounging for ideas like I am on mine.

  8. How did you lower yours?

I bought it as it sits with blocks in the rear and lowering springs in the front. By next month I'll have made my decision on what I will actually be doing with the suspension. It is lowered 3 inches and still has 2 more inches before the bump stops, then the bump stops are 3 inches so it still has 5 inches of travel after being lowered 3 inches already.

The front are a bigger issue than the rear. It looks like spindles are a must to really go too far with it. The rear has more leniency since it has kind of this half hearted factory C-notch built in to the chassis.

Here's a better look at the rear frame. It's not a nice pretty C-notch, but it sure helps to have that design. :D It's literally bent upwards right above the axle to imitate a C-notch from the nice people at Pontiac. :) it comes back down to even towards the rear of the car.

I helped a buddy lower his the same way as the others already said... 4" blocks and cut one coil. It looked bad**** and he ran the flat 8 daily 'til he sold it. He also put lake pipes on it, that looked cool, only one worked tho, but still looked good anyway.

Good score by the way, love those cars!

i still haven't put mine together enough to see what this will look like, but i read on here about a guy that put S-10 springs in a 62 or so impala and it accomplished a 2-3" drop and supposedly rode well. i bought some for my pontiac as the spring is the same diameter, but i don't know about the rate of the spring to see if it'd be tough enough. cheap as S-10 springs are, it might work for you to try it out on the front.

  21. OK....some better shots...Oh, and it turns out the car is from Ohio, NOT Washington...the guy we got it from has like 15 cars...so gets a little confused.

There's a red one on ebay that might give you an idea of something by looking around it.

Midnight 50.... this may be my ignorance showing here, but are those leaf springs in the rear of your car? They look solid, could just be my eyes.

that's my arm hanging out the window,Dave can't afford any tickets,as he is in the transportation biz ;)

starts 1st time every time, and rides smoother than a smooth thing from smoothville.
i was bopping along thinking the speedo MUST be wildly inaccurate, because it said 55 but it felt like i was doing 35 :D
not gonna win any drag races though, unless you're up against a 6 cylinder Pontiac ;)

  25. And a HUGE THANK YOU to George for putting up with being dragged round Nor Cal for the last month looking at "Craigslist Bargains"

Tho we did find this one on there.

Nah, the springs are just wrapped; Ponitac wrapped their leaf springs in tin (I guess) from the factory.
