If you're asking for opinions, I personally think 4 doors make better Customs than Hot Rods. But then again you know what I own.
Some REAL progress...283 tear down... ...breakfast break... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
...some more. Cylinder walls and pistons looking good so far! Minimal wear on the cylinder wall, which is of course what we were hoping to see. Not over carbonated on the pistons... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Got down to the block (well, lifters are still in...dad was going tap out...I had to leave). We know what needs ordering. Then clean, paint and reassemble! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Based on the castings, this 283 was manufactured on May 17, 1966. Exactly what I was hoping for a period correct build!! Combined with the power pack heads and a rebuild should be a pretty decent runner! Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
So there were a couple cancerous areas that were bugging me, and I also wanted to stop from spreading. Found a Rustoleum that was close enough for now, and better to have it treated and covered! And looks a little more uniform... Before: After: Before: After: Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Put my vote down in the custom category! That Photoshop gets my juices flowing. If you not sacrificing looks for performance why sacrifice the looks in the first place? BUT its your car - do what makes you happy.
And I figured while I have the paint stuff out...remember, this is all temporary till I can afford a real paint job, so why not have some fun? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!

Thanks guys! Added some pinstriping...not perfect, but good enough from 6 feet out! Had to take a break...90 out there with no air movement...will pick up tomorrow. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
And here I thought I posted ones from when I removed the mask...here are before I striped. Of course today when I was trying to touch up one area with some acetone, I boogered it up more. So now to remask and paint one area. My first time doing something like this. Gotta learn somehow! Sent from my SCH-I545 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
A little OT, but I was watching some T.V. show a week or so ago, and saw a sign that said, LOG DOG. I can't remember the program however; I don't really watch much T.V., but I'm pretty sure it was on Discovery Channels Alaskan Bush People or Sons of Winter. Maybe someone else caught it also? I saw the sign, and thought about your project. Log Dogs are a tool used to keep logs from rolling while working/cutting them to prevent the log from rolling. There are some YouTube.Com videos about Log Dogs. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
Agreed....and somehow paint to match the faded patina! Sent from my SCH-I545 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
I think the touch up paint you've been using would work just fine and if you also painted both quarters nobody would even notice. You've got the perfect place for the break of the paint there.
Ya know, you make a point....just run up to the trim. Now to find the skirts! Sent from my SCH-I545 using H.A.M.B. mobile app
