Hey Everyone, I just wanted to give a quick update on my project. I haven't been on the HAMB much in the past few months, due to my job changing temporarily to a resident engineer in the field rather than a design engineer in the office. Pay's a little better, commute is way better, and I am outside ALL the time...but no computer, alas no HAMB. I had some serious withdrawls. Late this summer I scraped enough cash together to purchase a '47 ford chassis and drivetrain from fellow HAMBer Ratrodder. When I got it home the engine wouldn't turn, but with some PBlaster in the cylinders I got it turning, and then running with 3 intake valves stuck open! Since then I have removed the heads and got the valves functioning and heads back on with head gaskets from Ray Helger, THE flathead/old Ford parts GURU of southern New England that runs a flatty FED, and who lives 10 miles from my house. (I showed him pics of my project- he laughed and called me a "hot shit"...is that good or...?) Anyway- my flatty purrs like a kitten. I still need to do the 12v conversion. Either alt or gen, bracket or field coil. I wish I had some pics to share but the digi cam shat the bed. Any local HAMBers are welcome to stop by and snap some pics for a garage day at my shop. So I just wanted to let everyone know I didn't drop off the face of the erf. It is amazing to have the "heart" of your project beating, it adds so much purpose. Anyways- thanks for listenin'. Viva La HAMB! -Jay (nosurf) link to UN-updated website= http://jdsweet33.tripod.com/modelacoupe/index.html
Congratulations. That's an awesome stage in a project, it always feels good to be getting things done. So, are you building a '47 Ford or is the running gear going to get a new home in an earlier chassis?
