damn, this is a coooollll damn build!

  6. Here is some pics of todays cutting and welding...:)

Had to narrow the rear frame so the tires would fit. We cut of 4" on each side. Hopefully we will get the leafsprings and Volvo rearaxle in place tomorrow or Thuesday.

  7. They are home widened 5-spoke rims. Traded them from a friend at work for a case of beer!

what kind of truck is the red one you pulled it with. I have never seen nothing like that before

  15. did you guys just roll that thing over on its head and start cutting? im building a husky hillman for a customer, i could just roll the little pig over on a mattress. sweet!

  16. The truck is a Volkswagen transporter from around 1995 or so...:)

  17. We first rolled it on the side over to old tires and ater cutting and welding some we rolled it over on its head like u see on those pics. Just weight like nothing or almost nothing!

neat. can't wait to see it right side up.

  19. While i was working today Kimmen made some progress with the Gasser. He welded the new rear frame and got the leafsprings in place. He also finished the rockers and the second wheelwell and he cleaned up the rearaxle from all braces and stuff as u can se on the cellphone pics below.

I have to ask.how wide is this rearend? and how wide is the body on the van? Looks in the pic as if the outside of the drum is only a few inchs away from the body. Oh this is just getting too cool can`t wate to see it upright on wheels.

  27. Carbody is around 58" wide and the rearend is 53" and the rear with tires is 68". So the tires vill be about 5" outside the body on each side.

  28. There was some trouble when we should get the rear tires monted. They didn't hold the air. And we found out that i leaks in the weldings where the rims are widened and welded. So we got to take care of that and then we can mount them and maybe get it on it's wheels
