   Doing disk brake conversion my my corvette. One manufacturer calls for a proportioning valve and other calls for a metering valve instead. Whats the difference????

   I'm not sure your car needs either. Like Jeff said, they are usually needed in a disc - drum combination. Sometimes the valves are in an combined unit.
