proper gap for 63 292 distributor?

    tryin to get this car goin again and of course i got the book for the car but not the freakin engine ...anyone got the proper gapping for the points?...hit me back asap!

    do you want the proper ( feeler gauge) setting .017 ? or the get er done, in the field method...use the box the new points came in, tear off the end flap to use as a gauge...works every time!!
    btw, if you can find a dwell meter( if any body still has one, or even knows how to use it!) 30 deg for 8 cyl, 40 deg for 6 cyl, 50 deg for 4 cyl..

    Setting them between .018" and .020" will get you running, then check it out with a dwell meter. You'd want about 28 to 31 degrees of dwell.

    Set your point gap/dwell (same thing really) first, and THEN set your engine timing...remember, dwell affects timing, but timing does not affect dwell.
