Proportioning valve..where's it go???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Topolino Kid, Feb 16, 2013.

  1. Put it back in the package and return it to the vendor you bought it from.....and get something you actually need......rarely is one even necessary.
It is a damn good way to ruin a master cylinder if it is set incorrectly.....

Post #29 is the one to go by, and remember the valve is never set so the rears never lock; the front brakes should lock first, yes, but the rears should also lock with more pedal pressure...If you can't lock the rears with more pedal pressure you will NEVER know how much the rear brakes are actually doing till you really need them..Period..
And since I bothered to post I will ask; WHY on earth would you put an adjustable proportioning valve under the hood, or in the trunk or under the car?? Mount it where you can REACH it from the drivers seat...All it really takes is a little mounting bracket that will mount the valve so its little shaft can poke through a hole in the floor and the knob put back on...Usually inline with the front edge of seat....

  3. Ok, please explain THAT statement....

Well then, maybe you can shed some light on why it was in a Master's level engineering text, that is part of the curriculum of an Ivy League university.

Probably the same reason some schools try to rewrite factual history. I have no idea why in this case, but the so called master level engineering (?) text of that ivy league (?) university relative to residual valves is totally wrong, pure and simple.
