Done an exhaustive search for an excellent thread I read on prepping '46 'bones. Author chopped off the hangers, then proceeded to thin down the upper bulk of the forging at the axle bosses. Quite extensive, as even the upper perch bolt tapers had to be recut, as the profile was cut down 1/2", or more. The operation was well planned out, not 'simple'. Anyone recall who did it, and the thread? My tub's chassis WAS pretty much mapped out, sitting on a 4" '36 MorDrop axle, with split '34 bones. Suddenly...a bud came thru with a '46 wishbone, and the solution to a couple of problems. '46 'bones add style to the profile of a previously 'O.K.' running gear layout, what a difference! But they need to be 'massaged'. Thanks in advance...
Not exactly what you're looking for, but @Tuck covered some work to his bones, including re-cutting the perch bolt tapers on his thread here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...p-build-thread-babe-the-blue-ox.827449/page-7
Thanks, Canuck... I think the one I'm looking for was probably strictly a 'wishbone' thread, I recall a series of 'cut' pics, and much reshaping. It was deep in detail. (this is a big help, though...as I can see the 1/2" removed, and the angle of the bit to re-taper!) Thanks again. This will work...
