Projects Public Apology and A New Found Inspiration of a Model "A"

Well like a lazy dumbass I thought by posting my Model "A" coupe for sale I would sell it and fund 2 other much closer projects. After I went to take pics of all the bad stuff I realized that I bought this car because of how solid and complete it was.

So I am publicly apologizing for my rude stupidity by posting something for sale that I didn't know I really wanted to keep. I AM SORRY! I am sorry for getting the hopes up for a few but I am glad that no one went out of their way to come look at it.

Now to the inspiration. I bought this coupe a few years back with great intentions. I sat on it for a while. Collected many, many parts. Then decided to start working on it. I disassembled it and began working on boxing and cleaning up the frame. Next thing I know My wife and I bought a new house and relocated everything there. The new house has an enormous barn that is not usable for a shop. It has, what the old owners called, a Model "T" garage which is way too small. Well, while getting situated and beginning the renovation of our newly acquired house the "A" was put on the back burner.

Then all hell brake loose. With a full blown historical house renovation under way we decided to buy a "driver" 1961 Skylark. What a disappointment. Not quite the "driver" we thought it would be. Then a 1950 Austin shell appeared to become another project. Then a 1963 International truck was purchased to take the place of my daily driver work truck.

All of this while still working on my '51 Plymouth and '54 DeSoto. So needless to say I feel overwelmed.

So I meet this guy who has a '31 Sport Coupe he wants to sell me. So before I look at it I decided to sell the "A". Then I look at it. Not what I would be interested in. So I decided to continue selling the "A" to fund all the other bullshit.

Long story longer than it needs to be...I have been torn up about the "A". I can't bring myself to sell it off. My fellow Iron Lord club mates and I have rented a shop and will be in it by next week. I will start assembling the "A" with all the stuff I have been accumulating.

    Here is a pic of the car;

I will start a build thread soon. Not that it will be much but I'm ready to do this.

Thanks for taking the time to read this ramble and I'm sorry for playing the "for sale-not for sale" game with those involved.

  10. If I decide to sell a car it has to sell quick or I start thinking about it - then I change my mind. I know what your feeling.

  12. I'm that way with my Nova only because I know what I have with it and what it can do. I'd love to sell it and get into something older and easier to handle again but, when I look at it it's like, Oh man.....I don't know.

Just shows your human. I almost sold my much less desirable T project last month so I completely understand. Good luck on the build and it's really great to see the friends helping. That will keep you going.

SO you'll know. That is NOT a 31 Sport Coupe, but it IS a 31 DeLuxe 5window Coupe. It may or may not have a rolldown back glass and/or rumble seat.

COngratulations on your choice. Now enjoy it to the MAX!

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys! This was the first time I had something like this happen to me. When I bought the car I wanted one so bad and found what I thought was perfect for me. After all the shit and additional cars it seemed I lost interest in it. Even though I love all the other cars and projects I now think this one is "The One".

    Thanks again.

I do know it's a '31 Deluxe rumble seat with the roll down rear window.
The other car I looked to buy was a Sport Coupe.

    Thanks,

Glad you are keeping the car. When I saw it for sale... I thought that it wouldn't last long before someone snatched it up. Sport Coupes are cool too, but that is a very good builder. Here's a shot of my Sporty.
