I just noticed something too--you don't have any down-bars going from the cage through the firewall to the frame rails ahead of the control arms.

With the time's your running, and the car hooking, I'm sure there's some torque/ch***is flex going on there.

Torque flex is going to pick the driver's side wheel up while the p***enger side wheel is still down. All you have in front of the firewall are two frame rails--the two pick-up points for all the torque moving that car. It's hanging out there is space. The rest of your car, from the A-pillar bars through to the trunk, is tied together with the roll cage.

    That's part of your problem.

A question on your front end geometry: With the nose of the car raised, that would, in effect, put your suspension is "droop," correct? With ball joint spacers and tall coils, there isn't much suspension travel when the nose of the car comes off the ground, because it's already stretched out. Therefore, when you set your suspension geometry, it's being set in the full droop/ride height position already, correct? Where you get funky is when the suspension compresses (like when it's landing) and then bounces back. Bumpsteer.

I'm seriously thinking that with the bumpsteer involved, plus the front end of the car being twisted, that's where your problem lies. As Sam said, the driver's side tire is still in the air when the p***enger side tire contacts the ground. To me, that shows the front portion of the frame is flexed/twisted, while the rest is fairly square.

For your car, I'd SERIOUSLY consider down-bars (you'll have to put the missing front pieces of your frame back), and maybe an engine plate to stiffen the nose up.

Saw a guy hit the wall at Union Grove last summer halfway down the track. his line lock went screwy and he went right at the wall just like your car. glad you are ok and sorry about your car

  3. Yep... the body is on the tilt-o-matic, I have welded up the frame to make it stiffer, made motor and trans mounts... and a rear latter bar mount made out of 2x3 that goes THROUGH the frame to be the outrigger for the main hoop.

Should run pretty good with the SBC, 4 speed and Olds rear I have for it...

I'll keep the old paint... the car has been a race car since '62... in Modesto...

I still need to clean up some scabby **** from the old cage that was on there... as seen on the top of the frame. It was bad.
