I needed one and found an energy drink bottle that does the trick. It's thicker aluminum than a beer can and looked cool. Show what innovative idea you came up with.
I like the bicycle water bottle holder as a mount. I have a martini shaker, almost free at the thrift store and some of them are cool.
A JJ entry a couple years ago. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=210976&highlight=puke
I do it the non-Earth friendly, anti-green movement, ol'scool way and let it drip on the road. I can't find anything cool enough to collect the overflow.
WWII or Boy Scout canteen's were often used back in the 60's. Maybe too expensive these days, but really traditional!
i saw some empty metal maple syrup cans the other day almost sent one to you fred for a radiator catch can lol
All of my other cars I had I just let it hit the road like we have been doing for the last 100 or so years. But on my last one I just took a 10" piece a 1 1/2" polished stainless process pipe and welded two ends and a bracket and put a ****** for the line to attach. Polished it out and I am eco friendly!!
they are still pretty cheap at army surplus stores. That's what I've been running on my chevy for years now
why would you want the overflow tank to be the center of attention in your engine compartment? Its an overflow tank.
This one is mine, I have two tubes that come in the bottom, one goe almost to the top of the can and is the air vent and the other is connected right at the bottom. Just seemed like the way to make it. I like you drink bottle deal! Rex
I kinda want mine outa sight outa mind. I like the space between the radiator and the front cross member on my A. thinking of making an aluminum can the shape of the void, an stick it in there. painted black no one will notice it much. I dont want my puke tank to be the center of attention
My thoughts exactly. When you pop the hood, you don't want the first thing out of someone's mouth to be something like "hey look at that cool overflow tank."
Or say, "why in the world would someone put a beer can there?" Trust me, us guys who have been rodding for over 40 years do not consider beer cans and all the rest of the "novelty" containers as traditional.... To us, it screams "Rat Rod"...even though the car may be beautifully done, a novelty overflow tank is just that..a novelty. Don't have an item that detracts from your hard work...I wouldn't. I busted my nuts to make my engine nice and I don't want all eyes on the can...I want all eyes on my engine.
Didn't cars use gl*** bottles back when? Gl*** bottles that look an awful like cough syrup bottles or liquor bottles? Besides, it's not like it's a HUGE 5 gallon jug under the hood. It may be a novelty, but so are... fuzzy dice, 8ball shift knobs, red fuel lines and cheetah print seat covers. A little fun with a needed item doesn't distract. It's just fun and when this **** stops being fun, I'll get out.
That's kind of neat, Double Caddy. At the risk of offending many, I'll say that novelty **** on hot rods misses the point of hot rods. Form follows function. I'll also add that I wish this thread would discuss the difference between a puke can and a coolant recovery system. I prefer the latter.
