Hot Rods pulled a stupid one.

Yesterday after work I shot some base coat on my garnish moldings for my sedan project, so I give them a final sand, wipe them down get them hung, mix up the paint and pore into gun and shoot away. Well around midnight I wake up with shortness of breath. Was up all night not being able to get a full breath and its still hanging in there as we speak. So in my haste I didnt put my resperator on and it bit me in the ***. So take your time and do **** right guys.

Had to stay out afterward, that's OUT of the spray region for 12-24? hrs...else breath gets shorter.

How does that stuff shut you down? Does it effect the nervous system or does it lay in your lungs and block your breathing?

 

Ill be ready for ya. Pisses me off cause I do this stupid **** all the time, You would think I would learn.

 

If the paint contained isocyanates it can & will melt your lungs. That's what I have read. A respirator does not even do the job you need an outside closed air system.google it.

 

Jeeze guys. Safety first. Ya can't finish the ride if you're not around!

When I was young and stupid I painted a car in a garage using catalyzed AE. Had all the doors and windows closed. By the time I was finished I could hardly see the car for all the fog. Nearly killed me!

When I was young, I did stupid things not knowing any better. Now I am older I do stupid things because I don't remember. Here's hoping you feel better quick!

 

Hope you didn't do any permanent damage. It would be a bad way to leave this old world. You do not want to hear "We never got one in that way before" when you arrive at the pearly gates.

 

monday I reccomend you go see your doctor and get a chest x ray and tell him what you sprayed with as the stuff can really do some damage and you can get pulmanary edema ( sic ) basically fluid in the lungs and drown . it chemically coats and burns your lungs .

mask , suite -n-air charged ALWAYS after that.

I broke down and bought the fresh air respirator and can spray worry free. Ya it was $500 bucks but your lungs/brain? priceless........

 

Effects are wearing off. Just pisses me off that I got in a hurry.
