*** Hopefully this is not too 'off topic', I thought you guys might enjoy seeing an early "supercar"up close.

  10. The front is as beautiful as the back is ugly. They must have started at the front and run out of ideas by the time they got to the back.

You sure know how to make an old man cry!!! That could park it's 'ugly butt' in my garage any time it wanted to, especially if the keys were also left!!! Back in the day that 'ugly butt' was all the competition ever saw!!

    Channeled highboy?
You're going to need one helluva heavy duty dropped axle for that one.

It's a Duesenberg. 1931 with an aluminum body built by Murphy in Pasadena,ca.
the Duesenberg chassis'were built in Indianapolis.
I work at/with the ACD museum, helping with the collection's cars. Duesenberg is the feature car for this year's festival (labor day weekend) and we pulled it "off the floor" to get it ready for some summer driving/shows/PR. I don't think it has been running for about 3 years.
since everyone likes it, I will get some under side shots later this week

  22. All Duesenberg J variants were delivered as body-less chassis complete with grille shell, hood, fenders, dash and miscellaneous trim, which helped maintain brand identity. It was up to the purchaser (though some dealers took care of that step) to engage a coach builder to supply the body and interior to suit the tastes of the purchaser.

Weps, how in the world could your life get any better? You actually get to plunk your ass on those leather seats, turn the key to the ignition and listen to that magnificient mechanical wizardry that Fred and Auggie put together? You actually get to fiddle with some of the world's best cars? You get to do this on a more than frequent basis? Damn, that is as close to car-guy heaven as it could possibly get. And I don't give a rat's ass if some of the myopic cretins think its heiny is ugly, this Duesenberg is welcome in my garage at any time and I would definitely not piss and moan about an ugly butt. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there just is nothing more beautiful than a Duesie.

    How I envy your "job!"
