Calling all metal heads. I’ve got a Pullmax P6 that I just took a deposit on to sell. Upon testing it I found the stroke control makes noise in the up position. Nice and quiet with the lever down but noisy when thrown up. Oil level is good. I hadn’t really used it in a bunch of years and forgot the lever was even there because it faces the wall lol. Does anyone have any experience with this? This weekend I’ll pull it away from the wall and remove the cover to try and pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Lol what a small world! I posted this on a fakebook group and got a few wishy washy responses. Then a guy named Stan Fulton chimed in with some clear concise answers with exactly what I need to check first etc. I’ll be digging into it this weekend. Thanks for your reply.
That’s good. Stan is a good man. Several years ago, when I was looking to buy a Pullmax, I lost the bid on one he was selling on eBay. I called him to see if he had anything else available, and at the time he didn’t have any more that were ready to sell. He knew of a good P-7 that another fella was wanting to sell and he hooked us up and we made a deal. I knew right then what kind a guy he was. He did not have to do that. He could have easily strung me along until he had one of his other machines ready to go but he passed on a possible sale to help two people out, me and the other guy that was wanting to sell. I still have the P-7 and it’s been a great trouble free machine.
@ronzmtrwrx yes it didn’t take much to give me that impression. That was very unselfish of him to help make the deal for you. @gimpyshotrods Haha you know I gotta keep the boys guessing. So there’s a coupler between the motor and the gearbox. Throwing the lever changes the alignment to shorten the length of stroke. He suggested to make sure the coupler has ample grease. Simply pull the cover and see the Zerk fittings. While I’m in there I’ll see about doing a good cleaning and then lube.
