My all time favorite Drag car is Pure Hell and when I seen the original today at the Reedley, CA. Street Faire I almost ******ed. If you have more pics of this monster please post.

Is that car popular? When I lived at Rich's house it was just an old car in the back yard. Wish I would have known it was important.

One of the great fuel altereds of all time. I think that there were a number of versions. The first, with the blown small block, had a transverse spring front end like most other altereds. Builder Pete Ogden figured out that the front spring perch was a pivot point, so when the engine torqued over, it unloaded the tire oppose the torque direction, and so the next version had the coil springs at the end of the front crossmember. I also seem to remember that Dale Emery got upside down in the car in the creek at the end of the Fremont strip and almost drowned.

Thanks for posting these pictures...Pure Hell is one of my favorites too.

They say there is a fine line between fearless and stupid. I'm not sure which side of the line those early fuel altered drivers were on.

Wish I could have made it out to Dragfest this year.
