He and a friend ( Chevy Dealer) drove from Ca. to Gene Jorden's shop in Kennewick, WA. to view my chopped '40 coupe. When it arrived at Gene's shop, he asked how much are we going to chop it ! He'd chopped a number of cars, never a '40 coupe. Had'nt planed on a cut, cut up some photos. Came up with a plan, after measuring the a door hinge said one & half " Gene said he only had 2" tape. Quarter window was moved forward, a '34 style drip accent was used and the uncut back glass was moved down to align with the side glass. Gene said they went 3" on Rich's car, having to slice the back glass. My car was sold and went to Ca. to be finished and have never seen photos. Rich's would be very similar. Like to see how it turned out, thanks, dyno Dave
That was the gold color car if I remember right. If so I seen it at an event here in Ohio. Not sure if I have a picture of it or not. I'll take a look and see if I can find one.
At GNRS it was sitting in a back corner being mostly ignored. It seemed to be just another black '40 Ford. As I admired the quality of the build I read the show card and realized the the owner was Rich. His AMBR winner was in the other building and I think his Altered was in the NHRA museum. Looking close and trying to catch the light I realized it was purple. It must be candy over a black base. I wonder what it looks like in the sun. The show card lists all the attributes. Pardon the pics from my cell.
RED032, thank you so much ! My point in all this chopped '40 Coupe stuff is that this model CAN be chopped and still look very appropriate. Just be stay subtle ! thanks again, dyno
you are kidding , right? Wheels, mirrors , smooth running boards, those modern headlights . that is a modern street rod. The Hamb focuses on 1965 and older style builds. this is a traditional hot rod forum, surely you knew that being here for 14 years? if not you can see the rules for the site here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-h-a-m-b-rules-guidelines.44274/
Thanks @Moriarity for moving it here. I've long been a proponent of the Off Topic Forum, long before it appeared. I've had pictures deleted and moving them doesn't bruise my ego.
