Purple gun is all I have ever used in building half a dozen cars over the past 30 or so years. Set one up for primers with their optional larger needle and orifice. Painted this car lime gold candy over white pearl base in catalyzed urethane. Sold at auction for $248,000 so paint job must have been not totally terrible. For sure if I were a pro and painting every day I would spring for a top of the line gun. But as an amateur car builder, I wouldn't have the tool collection I use if I had to get TOL tools. A good painter can get a Purple to yield great jobs, just takes practice.

  2. For $9 each, I picked up a couple of 'em too. I already had a 'combo kit' (full size gun with a detail gun) that I've been happy with. While I was there I took a flyer on one of their new 'premium' cordless drills. I used cordless tools a lot while I was still working but after retiring I bought a couple (name brand no less, not HF) and they quickly failed (NiCad batteries?) because I didn't use them enough I think. These new ones have a 5 year warranty on the tool and 3 years on the batteries/charger so I thought I'd give one a try. For $100 that gets you a 1/2" 20V 'brushless' drill/driver with the battery and charger and for a limited time if you buy this kit they'll throw in another battery. Looks to be a well-made piece with some clever features...

I don't see why not. I believe it comes with a 1.8 nozzle, which might be a little big for lacquer.

Sale extended to 12/3/23. They also have the .50 cal ammo cans on sale for $10. They make great storage for specialty tools.
