About a year ago I was putting new carpet in the shop truck and had to deal with a problem. Even though I had gotten the carpet set from GM it came with no holes what so ever, for seat mounting or seat belts. I thought about marking them all and pulling it out to punch or cut them. But I thought theres gota be a way to do it in the truck. This is what I did and it worked******en. Got an old hole saw (3/4) put it in the cordless. Went to the belt sander and ground the teeth off. Then ground it razor sharp like a punch. Leave the ¼ bit in to keep it from walking. The thing makes perfect holes in carpet and pad right in place , Worked slicker than a gut. Greg
Greg, this solution worked for me when putting seat belts in my Dodge. A friend told me to just get a soldering iron and apply the tip to the area of the carpet where the bolts are going to be placed. The hot tip fuses the carpet (I'm****uming synthetic materials here, as what HAMBer can afford real wool!) and allows the drill to be used without catching and winding up all the carpet material on the drill bit. Works like a charm.
