Hey guys, I'm building a blown 460 for my 29 Sedan, and need some help with the Blower pulleys.
I want to run a 3 inch wide Gilmer setup and maybe a 2 grove V belt setup for the water pump and alternator and fan.
This is my first blower motor and I'm not real sure what I should be looking for.
I'm thinking I need a V belt pulley to bolt to the balancer, and the Gilmer pulley will fit inside the V belt pulley and they will all bolt down together ?
Does anyone run such a setup I can get some pictures of ?
I plan on running the mechanical fan,
Thanks for the help, as always ....

That's how it's usually done these days, you just stack the hub, V pulley(s), spacers, and Gilmer pulley so they all end up in the right place. You can buy spacers in different thicknesses as needed.

I went to 2" belt after years of 3" belt, both to make it more oldy, and to save space for the fan.

Also running a 2 inch belt. Did not have enough room for the 3 inch. DYERS has what ever you need, great service, and great products and advise.

Hey guys, thanks very much for the help,
So Im thinking that since the V belt runs behind the blower pulley, how does it drive the fan ?

You need a long fan spacer, or a long fan clutch. Lots of guys don't run a mechanical fan, but I do.

Thanks squirrel, I want to run a mechanical fan too.
Do you by any chance have a better picture of how your pulley and belts run ?

Thanks squirrel, thats exactly what i wanted to see.
Think Ill be thinking about running a 2 inch belt also, it does give you the room needed for the fan.
Guess youve had no issues with the 2 inch belt ?
Ive never ran a blower, and I was wondering if theres ever any issues with breaking belts ?

If alignment is good, then belts last a long time. I've never broke one, over 100k miles. I have worn out a couple sets of pulleys. If you plan to put a lot of miles on it, get them hard anodized.

They're all mine, except the ones I don't have any more. Right now, I have the 55, 57 suburban, 59 orange pickup, 62 Chevy II, 55 Bread truck, and my wife has her Dart, Prowler, and a couple other late models.

I'm running around 8-10 lbs boost right now, several more teeth on the lower pulley. Most of the miles I put on the 454 I had in the truck, then the 55, were with it 3% over, about 6 psi

So Im putting a 871 on a 60 over 460, in a 29 sedan, how much boost do you think it would make running both pulleys the same size ?
