The defroster core is toast, blower motor does not come on, and am not sure about the underseat heater. Since I plan to put AC in anyway, I'm thinking that rather than the hangdown unit, I might go with the Old Air Products Hurricane system that contains everything. Problems I foresee is the brackets and pulleys to fit my Pontiac 316 V8. Has anyone done this switch and how did you handle the brackets/pulley issues? I have a single groove crank pulley, as well as a single groove water pump pulley. Right now the alternator is located on the top p***enger side.

Call Vintage Air, if it can be done they will have everything you need. Alan Grove is the source for pulleys I use.

aaggie has it right. I believe the new VA under dash hang on unit goes for right around $299. You can add that VA unit for less then repairing your old stuff.

Correct you are Gmann...the "new'' heater core for my '60 Chevy wagon cost me $238.00...and that was just the small heater radiator core that fit inside the heater ***embly...I about choked on my Coke when I went to pick it up. I think they saw me coming and said "Here, hold my beer and watch this...!!!"
