I want to install two gas struts on the lid of a medium size tool chest. The lid is 26" wide x 18" front to rear x 2" deep. I have calculated the weight of the lid to be approx, 8 lbs. I am looking for a source to buy low poundage gas struts. Anyone have any idea what poundage struts I need. I want ones in the 14" extended range. I don't want the lid to fly open when raised, just a smooth motion, and on the other hand I don't want to have to fight it to close it. Perhaps someone has done this before. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

NAPA parts and accessory catalog. Listed as tool box struts. They have at least two lengths, and a bunch of lift capacities.
