Putting together a '27 T...Ohio Style

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curly, Mar 10, 2004.

  1. Here is a link to some pics of Quickrods T getting put together. As you can tell this is a family project with his dad and daughter also getting into the fun! His kid can tell you when you ask her who's car is this? She'll tell ya straightup..."MINE!"

Quickrod is wearing the apron, his dad the YELOW shirt this time and that's me in the hillbilly overalls.

  3. It looks scarier than what it actually is.

We drilled a 1" hole through BOTH sides of the wishbone and used a 1" pc of mild steel and welded that in on both sides of the wishbone. The next step was to but the spring mount into the 1" slug and welded the two pieces together. It is quite strong.

It looks like a piece of stock welded to the side of the wishbone but it all goes completely through the wishbone.

30roadster,thanks for the comp.trust me,it only looks suicidal,it's not.it was very carefully thought out,and im confident in curlys welding...besides,shouldn't a suicidal front end in fact look suicidal? [IMG]

  6. Yeah I know what ya mean....I've seen some scary shtuff out there. The kinda stuff that I wouldn't even do if it was lawn art! The kinda things that I'd be afraid the neighbor kid would break and I'd get sued.

The cute kid with the hammer and drill is what is on my mind whenever it's time to think something out. In a few years she's going to be the next Action Girl-Mel-Gracie-Denise-Cherry Blossom in the house! [IMG] [IMG]

  7. Hi, Im building a 27T that was made out of a tudor sedan. Im curious to know why you decided to weld the spring perches to the wishbone and didnt use spring perches that normally mount where the wishbone and axel meet.

it's a spring behind"suicide"style as opposed to a spring over more "traditional"style, which i believe you are doing.
