I see a lot of different prices for 8ba blocks, what’s a fair price for a block with main caps that’s been tanked and magnafluxed by a machine shop without fatal cracks in the oil pan rail, valves, or cylinders? I have 1 to sell. Any advice? Thanks!

  2. There must be a club with a web site and that would be a good place to look.

What bore size is it and has it also been pressure tested. All flathead blocks must be pressure tested. Tanking and cleaning only tell you 80% of the story. Pressure testing confirms it's good.

If it checks out, no heavy rust pits or wear in the bores and it's still under +.030", I'd say $500-$800 depending if it has 16 hardened valve seats, 8 in exhaust only or none.
