I'm trying to buy a part on Ebay from a guy in England. What can I expect to pay for shipping? The part weighs 15 pounds at the most. I've never bought a part from another country so I'm just looking out for any problems I might run into. Any suggestions?
The UK Post Office has a website similar to the USPS one which will give you approx prices for shipping, CLICK HERE and scroll down to International Services & there are options for Airmail (VERY expensive for a 15Lb package) or Surface Mail. Either that or ask a UK HAMB'er to stick it in their luggage when they come over here (depending on how quick you need it) Dave
What is it? mail it to me & i'll bring it over in may if you're not in a hurry for it, & then i'll mail it from the US. no problem.
Hey 32limey, thanks for the offer but I'll need it here in the next couple of months. It a seat for one of the Triumphs I'm building. Hell, I could probably have it made here for cheaper than the shipping alone....but I'm lazy. thanks for the help guys. Looks like I'll just keep looking stateside.
Was going to UPS a cigar sized box Dave & they wanted £60 thats over a $100. they can stick that where the sun don't shine!

Well as it would turn out the package weighs about 5 pounds. Is that going to bring my cost down any? I tried to use the Royal mail website, but sense I dont speak or read "English" very well, I found I was pretty well screwed.
You should get the best deal parcel post. I sent a Fordson cast iron gas tank, was only about a half gallon but was heavy. It cost him about $39 for 15# parcel post. Took a long time to get there though, but it finished his tractor.
