Finally got the story down on paper, since Engine Labs asked us to do a story on it.

fun reading the story, I predicted the air valves would have serious issues before I got to that part.

Did you ever play with an old SU carb with the variable venturi? notice it has a hydraulic damper? Did you ever play with motorcycle carbs with the variable venturi? that is actually the throttle, too?

Never did use SU's...We'll have to look into the hyd. dampener. Do you know of any specific bike carbs that had the venturi and throttle too? Would be good to see some pix!.
