Dont know if talking about Quadrajet carbs is Hamb friendly or not

Anyone have experience with Jet Performance and there spec built / stage 1 or 2 Qjets ?

Ive just been to busy with tons of other crap to clean , clean, clean and rebuild the 2 q-jets I have. Even got parts from Cliff Ruggles and his book

Id like to just buy one and install / adjust it at this point.

I would stay away from any commercially 'rebuilt' Quadrajet. Most time you will end up with a frankencarb full of miss matched factory parts that will be more of a pain in the a$$ than its worth.
Cliffs parts are the best I have used and really not much time to rebuild one.
Much better off with a factory core and a little time.
Even a non machining work around for worn throttle shaft bores is an option.

There are guys who swear by Quadrajet carbs and as above , guys who don’t.
I would suggest a plan B if you buy one. Good Luck !!!

Agree with above, never bought one that wasn't a mix of parts.

Decided years ago to build all my own. Did the mods, added what new parts they needed and cleaned the crap out of them. Never had a problem.

I love them, with the right mods then they are awesome....

I haven't used Jet Performance before but have used the Edelbrock Quadrajet's in the past with good success.
I thought that Jet had some good stuff.

  6. After a quick look at the Jet Performance website, the variety available seems to imply that each is made to a particular standard or specification.
Check for reviews and past customer satisfaction.

I have personally bought 2 quadrajet, jet carbs and both of them were very, very rich at wide open Throttle. I had an afr gauge in both of the cars and had to tune them to work.

  8. I used this place for my quadrajet. I told him about the engine it was going on and what I expected (fuel economy, not racing).
I am very happy with the result after 40k miles.

I had a stout Chebbie engine in my 37 years ago. Changed idle tubes and a few other parts , was trouble free . Ain’t no better carb made for the GM power plant

I went through so many in my youth, I literally dreamed of doing them.
So long as there isn't a solenoid sticking out of the top, they are good street carbs.
I have no experience with the company mentioned, but my questions would be where are they getting good cores after all these years, Do they bush throttle shafts and fix other wear concerns, and what kind of after sales service I could expect. I get your time VS money equation, I'd just want to make sure they get it too.

I've purchased two Jet Performance Q-Jet's. One was a 750 cfm Stage 1 for a GM Crate 350 with an Edelbrock Performer and full lenght headers...it ran great right out the box. The second one was a 800 cfm Stage 2 for a Ponitac 462...it ran fat and I never could get it in tune.
Ditto for mountain man fuel...He's built a couple for me.

  12. Carter used to make new ones that were excellent right out of the box.

I'm so hit or miss fixing my own, I found a local shop that does them for me.

Why not buy one locale ? it would sure be easier to take it back if needed. Orielly's shows them from 317.00 to 550.00 .

Hardest part of cleaning is the idle tubes. Cliffs book shows how to remove. I would hit him up for a recipe for your specific carb #.
His acc pumps are lifetime warranty and only a few out there that support their parts with tech like he does.
Anything over the counter will be as Cliff says is
    Duck poop.
There are way less expensive paper weights out there.

  16. BUYER BEWARE. I picked up one from them, but didn't take a good look at it. I went to install it and it was evident that it was garbaged together.

I tried to return it, too much time elapsed. It is fixable, I can get parts at my local carb shop. So not a total loss.

Buy once, cry once... in hind sight.
