    Quain,
What is the shifter in the Anglia? I see it has a separate lever for reverse. Is it just a regular old 4 speed shifter with reverse linkage removed and isolated, or a Jericho?

It's an in line made by long but highly modified to fit the Anglia. The way it mounts originally it was going to be under the drivers leg. We had to move it way over and remake the linkage it works perfect now. I had to move the one in my willys a little I like my shifter to be in the right place.

Donovan has made some changes on it getting ready for the Gasser race in Greer SC this Saturday. It is one of the few Anglias around that is period correct and run the way it does. It has been 6.00 in the 1/8 ( hope for 5.80 this weekend). You will notice that it's not slammed to the ground, has a 60s era short wheelie bar,( every fast anglia that I have seen has a long pro mod wheelie bar) long old school ladder bars and a straight axle. The engine is a 3.88 small block chevy with a jerico 4 speed that has to be clutched on the shift.

Thank's Ahotrod but competition plus should get the credit for the video it was all them, I just answered their questions. They are doing one on Cromer also I did another interview for that but I don't know when it will be out.

  11. That little ride and what you guys are doing is awesome. Bad Ass. I saw the pass when you lifted and the back tire came off the ground at the top end! Did you actually pick up the rear with suction from the driver's seat? :D

Yea there is plenty of suction on the driver seat in the willys. Thank's for the kind words about our Gasser deal but I'm afraid we have major problems for next year. One of the members is taking what I have started, taking some of our good cars and starting another class with more liberal rules. We didn't have enough cars anyway now they will be split.I guess you can't trust anybody.

These guys build the best and cleanest looking cars in the business today.

The quality and professionalism they put into each car they build is just over the top.

Love what you guys are doing.

  15. More liberal rules was probably the death nail for the Gassers back in the day.

I was hoping the class would grow to the point where you could have a full day of nothing but Gassers,,it has and I'm sure will continue to be the best show in town.

If the disgruntle member couldn't look out at the huge crowd and not be impressed with the phenomenon the gasser wars have created and not want to solidify and continue the growth of this class he obviously has decided he can't be a part of old school type of racers.

On a positive note you talked to a friend of mine about the rules and he is gathering up parts for another '55 Chevy that hopefully will be running next year. HRP

Sounds like history repeating itself. People who have no regard for the history, only care about themselves.

Hot rod the bad part is that it was someone that offer too help because I was so overloaded last year and the only reason I accepted the help was that I thought I could trust him.
It was really hard to get enough cars to make a show now it's going to be harder. I guess there should have been a no compete clause signed but I was raised that a handshake was good enough.

  18. Quain, you and I both came from a era where here in the South a handshake was all you needed,a mans word was his bond, sadly in today's world honesty and integrity has lost something in translational. HRP

This news is hard to hear.:(
Maybe it's about time for the "real gasser" show to get a name that conveys the period correct theme to distinguish itself from the modern imposter gassers. I'm hoping not too many guys will jump ship to the modernized group, and it may wither away over time and get some of the break away guys back in the original fold. Do you have an idea of how many intend to leave the group, and how liberal the proposed rules are?

I was drinking my Saturday morning coffee and enjoying reading the HAMB with a smile. That smile turned into a frown now. Well, at least, we can count on you and Gene Cromer staying true to the cause. Can't wait to see Chris Dunn's "Boogie Man" Chevy II out there with yall if he gets it finished up this winter.

  20. Thats what made Patton such a good general, he looked at history and knew it repeated it self.

  21. Quain sorry to here this. We 've talked I love your venue of 65 rules and still plan on building to your rules. Hope you can pull enough cars because I still plan on making the drag down there to run with you.

Quain, just watched your interview and was thoroughly impressed by your honest enthusiasm. Not suprised at all as I have been enjoying both yours and Gene's story this past year. Watched and waited for updates/videos as time went by, almost like a kid at Christmas. Keep your head up(just read about the latest situation) and carry on. Trust me there's plenty of people out there that will appreciate what you're doing. Til next time, Carp

  23. it happens in any competition people wanting to change rules to have an edge or to include another group to get bigger but it doesn't work the best is to hold steady and maintain the course and the group will grow. i once was told that are group had 50 year old technology and they would come and run with us if we changed the rules, we didn't change the rules but allowed them to run with us for one year what they perceived as an advantage wasn't on a regular bases we ran three different friday. saturday, sunday, on a tour and didn't have the adjustability and by the following season they all had old cars like us. the only reason to change rules is for safety or if a certain part is no longer available.

Unfortunately that kind of describes what NHRA was attempting when they changed the rules. They wanted to improve safety, and rule changes made the gas class safer, but at the same time changed the look too.

No matter what those other guys do, what YOU have done to do it correct is what really matters. The guys that are truly interested in participating will come out and contact you.

Maybe those of you that are true Gassers can do some book in shows around the Southeast.

I know you won't give up or give in!
