Hello The attached pictures are bumper guards that were on my 1938 Chevy when I purchased it. I have done a lot of searching on the internet to try to get more info on these. I have searched the H.A.M.B., Bomb forums, Lowrider forums, some sites for restorers, contacted Chevs of the 40's...I have yet to get a really good identification and description of what I have. I have found pieces similar to the front guard on ebay. I have not found one exactly like the fold down guard for sale, but I did find one pic of a Bomb running it on the front bumper (ha, no description in the caption though). I was told by the previous owner that the rear fold down guard is a pretty rare, and it seems to be confirmed by my internet searches. Or maybe I have just confirmed that he is senile and I am bad at the internet. So...I realize this isn't entirely on topic, but when all else fails... THANKS! I know the answer is on its way.
Probably is an accessory. When you list it for sale on ebay, list a lot of cars that it could fit, since it's not a 38 chevy part, specifically.
I have had a few 38 and 39 Chevs, but have never seen those pieces before. I wonder if it might be factory Chev accessory...........
They're still aftermarket bumper guards. here's the 1939 chevy accessory catalog page that shows what Chevy offered. and the complete book http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/accessories/1939ab/index.htm
