Well I got a flathead with a 700r4 adapted to the back of it. I talked to D&D machine today about getting an adapter for a 215 olds since my flatty needs going through. The question is how do I know which 700r4 I got, I didn't even know there was a difference? Thanks in advance.

Depends which particular V6 ****** you're talking about. The 80s saw lots of 2.8 (and later 3.1 and 3.4) V6 engines in front of 700s, they have a smaller bellhousing. The 4.3 V6 engine has the same bellhousing as the V8.

This is the normal Chevy V8 bellhousing bolt pattern.

  3. I'm using a 700R4 out of a 92 Camero 3.1. Note the two bolts at the top vis one on the full sized bell housing. The D& D Fabrications adapter is first cl***. With it, the small bell housing 700R-4 and Olds/Buick 215 package looks almost factory. The motor mounts in the pictures are Ch***is Engineering items listed for the early Buick V6. They require a little grinding to fit.
