Its not a piston type. But does anyone know if it can be used as a compressor for air ride? thanks

Ooof...from what little I know about early GM compressors, the one from the Caddy isn't rebuildable. I know I've been told by Classic Auto Air in Tampa that the '54 Buick version can't be rebuilt. There's a bearing or something in there that isn't replaceable. If it still works, it can be spruced up, but a POS can't be made to function again.
That being said, there are a ton of other good options--I'd sell that one to a restorer. There HUGE anyway, aren't they?
Call Classic Auto Air and find out more info. They'll also be able to tell you if it can be converted to be used as a compressor.
I do know a lot of guys have used the V-style Tecumsa (sp?) from Mopars.
