Question about a '86 Monte Carlo Spindle

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by plumcrazy53, Aug 13, 2012.

  1. We need a spindle out of a 1986 Monte Carlo.... Does anyone know what year Monte Carlo's are the same or if any other Chev models will fit? We have heard that a Camaro spindle would be able to replace the Monte Carlo one.

The Monte Carlo is a G-body so any 1980-88 Malibu, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Pontiac Grand Prix, etc. will work. Also, 1982-03 S10 Chevy 2WD pickup will work too. The Camaro is a F-body and won't fit.

That's what I was thinking, so I gave him an answer.

  6. Our car is a 1939 Buick Special, with a 1986 Monte Carlo clip installed..... Our car is definitely older than '64.

Got a friendly junkyard? Look it up in their Hollander manual. I believe they are largely all the same from 1978-1989, but could be wrong as usual.

To the list of "G" bodies above, and S-10 pick-ups, add 78 and up "A" cars, Chev Malibu and equivalent from BOP . Also the small GM van, Astro and equivalent GMC. So, you have a LOT to choose from - just not Camaro...:D

Just remember that 78-79 G body have standard threaded wheel studs, 80 and up have metric studs. Might save you some trouble.
